I went to Walmart for some fresh produce and a few frozen things I like to have on. I like those frozen bags of biscuits, take out to and in the the airfryer. That thing is rapidly become my favorite appliance.

I digress. I went in to the laundry room to put some of the purchases in the extra fridge I have there. Odd, the room had a smell and the trash went out the night before. Low and behold the fridge part was not cooling. Top freezer still fine, everything frozen solid.

I generaly keep bottled water, gatorade and juices for the grandson. I did have to toss a few things. It was some steak that I had not gotten to the freezer yet creating the odor. I also threw out a dozen eggs that were in there. I don't think I will replace it yet, the freezer still is working.

The one thing I am worried about is it could have any danger to keep it plugged in when the fridge part is broken. Any one have advice? If it is dangerous I will go ahead and get a new one.

Yea, that might be dangerous. What a hassle. It probably should be unplugged. It could be a short somewhere that could start a fire. Have you smelt anything burning near it? That would be a sure sign. If you have to unplug it. You can use a freezer packed with ice ( like camping ) to keep your food. You probably need a new fridge/freezer. Bummer. I hope I am wrong. :(

Most refrigerators transfer cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator. It could be a simple fix.

I had that happen once. The flap that opened to allow cold air from the freezer wasn't opening. A DIY project that saved me money.

Not any burning smell. I just don't have a clue why the freezer still is fine. It is a full freezer. The freezer in the kitchen is also full. Thanks to both of you for the input.

I will do a little research and see if I can find, hopefully, just a little problem. It was not an expensive fridge, so no pain in that, just like to have the extra one available. Funny as it sounds, this is a girl that does not like shopping.
