Mmmm, love blueberries Imp, I always buy them when they're fresh in season and on sale. We recently had a blue berry pie too that was very good, although probably not so healthy. :eek:
 
My wife has found that blueberries may be frozen without any kind of preparation other than washing, and used anytime. She buys them frozen at our big grocery stores at lower than fresh price. Some fruits turn to mush upon thawing, blueberries not so much; anyhow, using them in smoothies, it doesn't matter (or WINE, better yet!). imp

One thing I am not privy to, is whether the good stuff which provides the color in antioxidant fruits and vegetables is destroyed by the heat of cooking. Eating raw purple cabbage is not my thing! imp
