I like to watch the evening local AND evening news everyday. I am pretty sure I am not the only one who has a tv routine. I watch the news in the morning and in the evening. When the evening news is coming on and the channel is changed, I just go to my Roku on my iphone and watch it there. Gotcha! I still watch the evening news!
Another quirk of mine is once out of the room, turn out the light. Just a "thing" I like to have-lights out if no one is in the room. I think that comes from back in the day.

I can't think of anything I routinely do every day apart from exercising. I tend to look on my laptop while watching tv which, I guess, counts as a habit.

I abhor routine, seriously... so the only real certain habit I have it in the morning, before I get a cuppa tea.. I turn the computer on, and check my whatsApps and emails.. before reading the news.

Only after I've done that do I make tea ..
We all have habits, routines. And they are hard to break.

I'm afraid I adhere pretty tightly to routine all day every day. One routine I love which I keep reading people shouldn't do (apparently interferes with sleep or calories or who knows) is eat in bed. For me it is almost always exactly the same foods eaten in the same order with the same activities (reading thru dessert, then games afterwards) before I go to sleep.

It made it really hard on me when I went on vacation (pre-covid) and stayed in hostels, to not have my bedtime routine.

I have a very bad habit of over explaining something to someone who asks a simple question. It only leads to confusing that person more and then I have to start again, modifying what I was attempting to convey in the first place. I get quite aggravated with myself for doing this.

Well, I used to do that too. Now, my sentences are very short.

I haven't eaten in bed for over 20 years.. and that was when my husband would bring me breakfast in bed.. but that hasn't happened for a very long time. I no longer eat breakfast so by the time I get up and about and dressed, I wouldn't want to return to bed for brunch..and certainly not eat dinner in bed.. :D

I double check that all the doors and windows are locked. If I wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, I check them again. Old habits.
That's slightly OCD IMO and I am absolutely the same. Though not in the middle of the night. I check the doors (front and slider in my apartment) before I go to bed. Sometimes several times and I also locate my keys. Sometimes after I go to bed and turn the lights out and even if I was sure they are in their usual place.

Yes you could say that. I just feel like I should at least give it another look.

That's funny, I just wrote my blog post today about having routines. I use routines to change habits to make things easier or safer for myself as I get older. I always put things away after I use them. If I come in from outside, I stop at my closet to hang my coat and purse. I put my keys in a little bag that hangs on the closet door (so they are hidden and nobody could sneak off with them), put my shoes away and put my slippers on. After I take groceries out of the shopping bags I always fold them up immediately and put away in the closet. By keeping to my routines, I usually don't lose things or forget to do things. I don't mean to sound compulsive but I lived before where everything was who knows where.
