Any Dean Koontz fans?

I read half a dozen or so years ago then realised it was mostly the same book with different characters. I may give him another go :)

When I traveled for business in the 90's I read a number of Dean Koontz books. Funhouse and Hideaway in particular stick out in my mind because they were so twisted. I saw Hideaway at the theater. Movies usually pale in comparison to the book. I'm a Dean Koontz fan.

They made a movie from, Hideaway? Yikes, that had to be hard to watch in places.

I can't remember if it was from a DK book, there was some story which had somebody threatening someone else though a different medium than the normal one ... can anyone remember what story that might have come from ? :ROFLMAO:
Can you be more specific about the different medium?

I've read most of his books. I appreciate his imagination and believe he's very good at building a story and getting the reader invested. My one complaint about his writing style would be he gets a bit wordy and it stagnates the stories momentum in my opinion.

Odd Thomas is my favorite character out of Koontz stories, I've read that series a couple of times which is unusual for me, typically I only read a book once. I'd love to see a collaboration of two of Dean Koontz books characters, Odd Thomas and Harper the waitress/private eye wannabe who was in the book The Bad Weather Friend. Two quirky characters that I think would pare well, but it would take some creativity to bring them together.

What was the "different" medium or the "normal" medium? Maybe with some hints we could figure out the story?

I have trouble with his over describing as well.

I haven't read much of his work since the Odd Thomas series. I tried the Jane Hawk books once, but found them uninteresting. He seems, in his later work, overly focused on characters such that it becomes a hinderance to overall story creation.

Not a fan, but I just read Elsewhere. Scifi horror. Very implausible, even by science fiction standards.
I'm not recommending...you read it?

I read a couple, then, he wrote "From the corner of his eye" talk about garbage writing. As bad as James Patterson with "Maxium Ride" I got 20% in a tossed it.

I am used to Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler, Dick Francis, John Grisham and my old favorite Louis L'Amour. They actully wrote interesting mysteries and novels.

I don't mind sci-fi, but dammit, make it BELIEVEABLE, not this genetic mutation, special powers garbage.

I agree. His earlier books were more economical in language and his later books bordered on pretentiousness. However, he is still one of my favorite authors. I have two bookshelves of his first edition hardbacks (I am a bibliophile from way back.)
