I was with both of my parents when they died.

Mother's last words were concern for us and an apology for dying and putting us to so much trouble. Don't remember the very last words. Typical of my mother, always thinking of others.

Father could not speak in the last week or so, and I probably was not there when he did. Apparently it was nothing profound or memorable.

I suspect most people don't have the presence of mind to say much profound at that point. What they said and did before are a lot more important.

These aren't last words, but they kind of fit the idea of this thread. Years ago, my little section of PA, was a dumping ground for Mafia killings. They found one dead guy, who was handcuffed to a tree, had $20s stuffed in his mouth, and had a bullet hole in his forehead. On TV, the death was labeled "suspicious', by the local police.
