Any idea how many km/miles you drive in your vehicle each year?

About 5,000 a year now if that, I have a couple trips form Virginia to Missouri on that total which I don't do now.

I drive about 6,600 miles per year or 10,600 kilometers. I don't drive as often as I used to, but a trip for groceries is 60 or 70 miles roundtrip and I frequently go a week without driving at all.

see this is another point... Americans typically unless they live in the city... have to drive a further distance than Europeans, because we tend to have stores, and all sorts of thing pretty much on our doorsteps... at least not far away..usually within 2 miles.... and so we don't necessarily have to drive long distances just for groceries for example...

But we like driving.....I've always felt we Americans are kind of gluttonous with our cars, we love our automobiles. Every person in a household wants their own car, we don't share, we don't car pool, we drive instead of taking a bus, we spend rediculas amounts of money for luxury cars we use for running errands and we save and collect our old cars because we love them so.

All kind of silly and wasteful really but I'm right there with the rest of us Americans, sure like to have that nice car or two parked in the garage.

we're the same in the UK... except for people who live in the city where public transport is brilliant.... but this is the problem we have here. Everyone in a household has to have their own car, and our typical houses don't have space for more than 1 or 2 cars... so the roads are chcocka block with nose to tail parking.. which further creates a problem making already narrow roads narrower...
