I didn't get the Agnes Brown books in order. I read "The Chisellers" first and now I'm finally ordering the first and last in the series. Very entertaining though:D:D:D

I adore the tv show. Never knew there were books though. Are the books along the same line as the show Fur?

Now what's funny is I never knew it was a show. I've picked up used books for years. Anything that catches my attention...the cover, the title, the subject...if I don't like it I donate it back. But first it was "The Chisellers" and then "The Young Wan". Sometimes books written in dialect can be tricky to read but it brings these stories to life:D

The books in order-
The Mammy
The Chisellers
The Young Wan
The Granny

I'm starting them again. The Granny introduces Agnes and each of the children. You get a clearer idea of her personality. Even from the first chapter it's very funny. An example...she and her friend are in the welfare office and her husband has just died.
" Now, what was the cause of death?"
" A hunter" Agnes said
"Was he shot?" the girl asked incredulously. " Was your husband shot?"
"By who? " Agnes asked this question as if the girl had found something about her husband's death that she didn't know herself
" The hunter, was your husband shot by a hunter?"
Agnes was puzzled now. She thought it out for a moment and then a look of realization spread over her face.
" No love, a Hillman Hunter, he was knocked down by a Hillman Hunter-a car!
The girl stared at the two women again, then dismissed the thought that this was Candid Camera.

What a terrific series:):):):)
