Any Seekers Fans here?

Bruce Woodley of the Seekers was also co writer of the song 'I am Australian' - now well known by all of us and and almost a defacto National Anthem.

Unfortunately it was written a bit after the referendum to choose the anthem - and we went from God save the Queen to Advance Australia Fair.

I dont mind Advance Australia Fair and we are unlikely to have another referendum o n this - but I think 'I am Australian' would win hands down
if we did.

Absolutely -- a welcome relief from the loud, crazy stuff of the time. The Seekers, along with Simon and Garfunkle, were two of my favorites from the Sixties.

Judith Denham passed on just a couple of years ago. A very photogenic and wonderful singer, indeed.

I voted for Walzing Matilda - just the tune, because it is a great one to whistle when walking along a bush track.
Actually either version would have been OK.

This is The Seekers performing the lesser known Queensland version

For the record, I do love We are Australian. It is learned by every school child and I get very misty when I hear children singing this song.

This one will seem corny at our age but when I first heard it I was in Junior High School and I guess it expressed how remote and hopeless the prospect of finding a partner feels when you are young.

I love morning town ride it played fairly often at dances ( not seekers ) but an instrumental version mastered for sequence dancing
