I have Delta Airlines refund tickets for two and we are considering flying to Maine in November. I have TMS treatments through October and I'm wondering if Maine would be a good destination before February when ticket values start decreasing?

Have been there in the summer on vacation. It's been a long time, but I remember the rocky coast mostly.

Anybody been to Maine?
Only a couple of quick business trips, I liked it and hope to go back one day. Had a friend who's family owned and operated a small resort/camp on the coast, they invited me often, wish I had gone. They sold the place a couple of years ago.

I'd say go! Just be sure you are ready for cold weather, or go soon or next year when its warmer.

Have been to Maine, twice. To Booth Bay Harbor, the first time - stayed in a trailer on the beach with our dog. It was our honeymoon.

Second time, we rented a cottage with my sister and my young nephews. The kids had so much fun. We ate a lot of lobster and crab.

The colours are beautiful in Autumn.

I lived in Maine for three years. I owned a sailboat and sailed much of the northern coast. November can get very cold, and Maine winters can be brutal. That being said, it's a great state if you like the outdoors. For a visit, November is probably too late, unless you just like that kind of weather. But at least the black flies will be gone.

When I was 4 years old (1956) my parents started vacationing in the Wells area because if what the pastor of the church told them about it. We went back every year until I was a teenager when the place at which we stayed passed into different hands and changed completely. One year we went camping expedition in the northern part of the state stopping and setting up camp at different parks every few days. It took so much out of my dad, they we seldom went camping after that,

I was surprised to find that Portland, Maine, had ethnic neighborhoods. Italian, Greek, etc. I found out why when we took a boat tour around the area.

The boat guide took us by an island with abandoned building on it and explained that it was a "secondary" processing station when Ellis Island in New York would get backed up with immigrants. The boats would be diverted to that island for processing. The immigrants would be dumped out in Portland and would have to find their own way to New York City. Train fare was 50 cents a person and a lot of the immigrants didn't have enough money to get there, especially if they were large families. So they had to settle in Portland. Those of their nationality who were already there would help them settle in. Thus, ethnic neighborhoods were established.

I spent a good chunk of my life in Maine, but in November? IDK. It can be very cold, colorless, all the tourists areas will be closed and it could snow! So it depends on what your idea of a great vacation is. Maine is truly beautiful but not, I would say in late fall or winter unless you like winter sports or something.

I've been to Maine several times. It's beautiful. I have a cousin who owns an island there. The sooner you can book it, the better, before it gets too cold.
