Anybody know about this "Temu' thing?

yes it could well be that Amazon et al..pays google..which I know they do... and Temu does not...

However that said I've just entered a search for a blue cardigan as a test in google and the second link was for Temu...Amazon was the 5th link
 

I have placed several orders ,along with 3 tops.Was happy with them & got compliments .You have to check the sizes carefully.Prices are lower than Amazon.Real reviews some with photos.Shipping to me is about 10 days which is fine.If your check your order & the prices have gone down they refund you.I had to call once.Got a real person right away that I could understand.Most stuff we get comes from China anyway.they have some neat stuff on there,go looking at the different categories.

For all my internet purchases I have a separate visa with only 1,000. limit.
 

I too have ordered a few inconsequential items, shirts and kitchen gadgets. Thus far everything has been as expected - just can't expect overnight or same day like Amazon. Many of these items are the same thing that are being sold on Amazon, from the same suppliers, just without the Amazon drop shipping middlemen. My methodology now is, if I don't need it in a hurry, and it's not a big-ticket item, search Temu and AliExpress to see if I can find the same item before ordering from Amazon. I do use the web site exclusively and not the phone app.

Example, I play a lot of pickleball so I like to have the sweat wicking polyester tennis shirts. I was getting them on Amazon for $25. I found the exact same shirt on Temu for $10.

I had to leave PayPal UK. I was using them to sell my eBooks. One day out of the blue, they said that every idle accounts would have to pay a monthly fee of £9.99. I couldn't afford that and many other indie authors did the same.

It's outrageous...
 
Update on my Temu order... it arrived today. Ordered 18 November, so 8 days. They were very good with notifications... when it left their country, when it cleared customs, when it got to the U.S. etc. My sweater is really nice! Fits perfectly, too. One issue with it, though... I'd have to grow about 8" on my arm length for the sleeves to fit. I know sleeves down over the hands are in vogue with some designers, but this is excessive. Not sure what I'll do about it yet. I'm 5'6" with normal-length arms. 🤷‍♀️

this is why I never buy clothing from Temu..it's almost always badly made.. or it's polyester...

Well then I lucked out because it's really pretty and good quality... sleeves are just too long, but it's really not a big deal. Love it and will order again... just may stick to short or 3/4 length sleeves next time.

I got one thing from Temu that was OK... and Shetland style socks... but other than that everything else clothing wise has been very poor quality so I stopped buying clothes or footwear from there
 
I've read articles warning about using Temu, but my honorary daughter orders from them a lot and has not had any problems. I was going to order this cute little mini washing machine when I saw I could get it for $5, but when I went in to make the purchase, they wouldn't let me check out without clicking on other items to buy, so I just got off the site. This it on Amazon; I won't buy it from there because it was a want, not a need.

The warning signs have been there from the beginning, about the gathering of personal information.
IMO the Chinese have an agenda with that cheap junk website.
