Anybody watching Bridgerton?

I've fallen in love with this Netflix series. It's partly a satire about the English upper class and their pretentions, and partly a beautiful love story. The series is gorgeous to watch, so much so that it makes Downton Abbey look a bit shabby!

The first season was a little bit of a mystery, but that got solved in the final episode of that season. So the second season is about the same people, but an entirely different plot. Aside from the beauty of watching it, it's fun to listen to. Many of the scenes have our own contemporary song hits being played by string quartets, etc. as if they were classical music. (The story takes place around 1805.)

It's irresistable once you get hooked.

Okay. I just signed up for Netflix a few days ago and I've already watched all ten episodes of The Crown and was wondering what to watch next -- so I'm going to go start Bridgerton and will meet back here later.

Yes. I love that series! It's adherence to history combined with it's departures produce a wonderful, visually arresting watch. The little bit of mystery and intrigue is fun as well.

Did you enjoy the first or second season best? I think it's the second for me but that might be simply because I watched that season last. lol

Haven't finished the second season yet, but so far I like it better than the first. I think it's wittier, and probably a little easier to follow the plot once you're familiar with these characters.

One line in the latest episode that I watched that really cracked me up was, "Yes, Mama, I'm hungry. I think I shall purloin an orange." No one has EVER talked like that!

Now, I'm dying to use, purloin in a sentence.

Just watched the first episode and it was a delightful feast for the eyes. I love having a fun series to watch.
Thank you, Sunny.

I absolutely loved the first season but of course was very disappointed, along with millions of other fans, that Rege` Jean-Page (Simon) was not returning. I didn't think I could get into the second season, the story about Daphne's older brother, but that hooked me too. S3 is supposed to focus on Penelope and the younger brother's relationship. I'll be watching again.
