Anyone else hate their iPhone?

I had a Blackberry years ago and loved the fact that I could click on the physical keys and know I had responded the way I wanted to. I have had an iPhone for many years now and I still can't hit the "virtual buttons" correctly.

It is very telling that the iPhone corrects spelling because NO ONE can hit the correct buttons to type something correctly. What is even more annoying is that when I type something it gets "spell corrected" and doesn't come out the way I intended it.

My iPhone is a handy device, but as a communication device it seems too complicated. I use it mostly for Wordscapes and for pulling up various investment and credit card accounts. Anyone else?

I use an Android Moto G. I like it. I use it for navigation, my grocery shopping list, playing audiobooks, reading stuff when I'm stuck somewhere, looking things up... Occasionally, I even use the phone. I must say, it's pretty handy.

The keyboard is a little tricky to use. The keys are bigger if you hold it horizontally, which makes it easier to hit the right keys. I can only type with one thumb and slowly at that. Some people use both thumbs and can type fast.

I agree that the spell check and predictive word choices can be annoying.

I’ve been experimenting with the voice messaging feature and it is a little better than physically typing a message.

I actually enjoy many of the features on my iPhone when I remember to use them. 😊

If I had to choose between my iPhone and my laptop the iPhone would win.

I have a hand me down iPhone and I am still struggling with it. My last phone was a flip top so you can imagine my steep learning curve. I keep thinking of it as a computer, which it is, but the operating system is quite alien to me. I prefer my laptop for most things.

I have taken on board the tip about turning the screen to landscape for ease of typing. Something new that I will take advantage of in future.

I too loved my Blackberry. I still have them in the drawer. My Daughter was their International Executive...but that has nothing to do with the fact that my Blackberry took the best photos of any phone of it's time..I still post photos on here that I took years ago using my Blackberry.

I loved the querty keyboard..albeit tiny...

I have had several Iphones now, all from new. There's quite a lot about them I'm not overkeen on ...

here's a few of my past phones including the current Iphone ( lit)... ( 2 Iphones, 2 Blackberries, and 2 sony Ericssons ) I have many more..

When I was in business with my brother we had straight forward, bog standard phones, speech and text and that's about it. Certainly no cameras or gizmos. Then he went and got a couple of all singing, all dancing, convoluted Apple wotsit phones. Why do we need one? His answer, because they have GPS tracking.
"GP what?" "Global Positioning System," he explained. "More like Golf Positioning System," I replied. "You are not wrong there," he admitted, "it helps locate the pin." I might have guessed.
That was eleven years ago, we have since sold the business, both retired, he's bringing his handicap down every week on the golf course, eighteen months after retiring I accepted an offer and returned to work. My brother always has whatever the must have is in phones, whilst I am still as puzzled with my Apple as I was eleven years ago.
Did you know that Apple launched their phone on April Fools Day? Says it all.

With all due respect, I don't think it does say it all tbf.... the Iphone is like a mini computer in your pocket...

Sorry Holly, the ambiguity was on my part. My implication was that it takes a fool, (me,) hence April Fool, not to comprehend that which a billion others, including four year olds, have no problem with. Apple have actually sold a billion phones worldwide.

The auto-correct and predictive spelling are both settings that can be turned off, if you don’t like them. Here is a link that tells you how - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207525

That link is for iPhones but I’m sure that a similar process works for Android phones as well. Personally, I like my iPhone and all the amazing things it can do but it’s up to me to ā€œtrainā€ it to do things the way that best suits me. I think that’s why they’re called smart phones, because they can be taught to work the way we want them to.

I love my iPhone. It is my virtual office. I have everything I need on the phone and can access anything I want to whether it’s my calendar, my grocery list, my food diary, games, Bank and credit card info, flight data if I’m going on a trip, boarding passes… the list is endless.

I prefer the operating system of the iPhone over the android. In my experience, both using it myself and teaching others to use their phones, the iPhone is more intuitive and less complicated. There is a learning curve in all smart phones no matter the operating system, I just happen to think that the iPhone is easier to master

i have a Samsung Galaxy something or other. No matter specifics, i have a love/hate relationship with cell phones. i do NOT leave it on constantly. i do NOT take it everywhere with me. when DD in town shopping and off to different departments, they are handy to have for communicating. If i'm home 'alone' and doing chores outside i take it in case i get injured and need to call for help, but in last couple of years have made an effort to do most of the outside stuff early in the day--and just take my walkabouts in PM--as less 'risk' involved.

i use same type stylus i do for my Kindle on the cell phone keypads and buttons, works better than my fingers.

I used to like mine ......but as older models are made obsolete the "phones" kept getting bigger and bigger
I do not need to watch TV or movies on a phone ... have no plans to film a movie with it either

I want a phone i can fit into a POCKET not a suitcase ....... if i wanted something so big i would carry an Ipad around...
need to update as mine will not be supported much longer but their "mini" version is still 33% bigger then my current one...

The only thing I don't like about smartphones is, I can barely read anything when I'm outside in the sun. It's totally useless. I can't even take a photo because I can't make out the image on the screen.

Maybe I need to make it brighter when I'm outside or something.

And when I'm browsing stuff to watch on YouTube while laying on the couch, I prefer to just use the Roku remote rather than use my phone. Maybe I just need to get used to using my phone for that.

Perhaps you should love a living person; not a thing like a smartphone. Love of material and mechanical things are rather sad affairs; me thinks! Men love football and men love trucks. Women love shopping and women love clothes! What ever happened to real love? Maybe the word should be "like my smartphone" but love, Mmmmmmmmmmmm?

No love affair with my iPhone, but I would be lost without it, living alone.

It checks in on me every morning to see if I'm alive (Snug Safety app),
.. and I need the weather and radar map and information for my daily walks.
And I know immediately when a package has been dropped at my front door, from text messages.

OK ...maybe I do love my iPhone..

Love my IPhone.....Love the music, I have spotify on my phone that syncs to my car radio...also any voice mail is translated into a text....this is a great feature if you are hard of hearing, this may not be unique to IPhone anyway I use it often.

I had to get a new cell phone a few days ago.....as my carrier will no longer be supporting 3G service in a few weeks. We seldom use the phone, and we just carry it when away from home...in case of car trouble, or one of the kids needs to call us. All I want is a device to make/receive calls.

My carrier sent me a Android smart phone, and I quickly got frustrated with all the Aps and Crap on it. After fiddling with it for a couple of hours, I finally found a tip on how to restore it to the factory defaults....which I did. Now, I'm back to a basic phone that just makes/takes calls.

@Don M.
Yep, that's all I need as well. I have a Nokia that I use only for emergencies. Never connect to the internet. My daughter keeps telling me she wants to buy me a Smart Phone. Don't want one!

When in company, everyone's checking their phones, except me :ROFLMAO:

I have a Samsung Galaxy. Just got it this summer. I do not like telephones. I have mine on mute for all notifications. I only use it if I am talking to or calling someone. Half the time I try to answer it and can't keep the screen on long enough to see what I am doing. When it is ringing I spend too much time trying to slide the answer thingy. No, I don't like any phone.

Honestly, there is no "one fits all" when it comes to many things and phones is one of those things. There are pros and cons about most everything you can think of. I have had android phones and iPhones, never had the privilege of owning a blackberry. I just happen to prefer iPhone and the way it, and Apple, chose to do things. No it isn't perfect but again, it's a personal choice and as in choice of color, I applaud all of you in making yours. Just remember, what you may hate, someone else may love :coffee: . Don...
