Anyone Else Hibernating😜😀?

But I have a problem with sleeping. If I take a little 'nappy', I'm up and fully awake at 3 AM. If I keep on taking naps, I'm sleeping only for 4 hours, but twice a day. It screws me up with a world that sleeps 8 hours at night. So, I have to be nap free.
But, Fuzz...yer retired
No schedule
No appointments
You can do whatever you want, whenever you want
alllllllll the time

3AM is a great time
It's pre 2nd sleep

I keep posting this little retirement discovery of mine;

no set time
whenever

then

I have what I call 'the 2nd sleep'

It rocks so hard, I seldom miss it

Whenever I get up, (of which is usually abnormally early)
I make coffee
Get on the web (here alot)
Fuss a bit with the budget
Do some writing (I'm a word butcher)

get re-sleepy

then

stumble back to bed.....sweet beddy bye

It's the only sleep that comes calling with complete consciousness
softly drifting...drifting into sweet sweet slumber
snort myself awake.....open one eye.....turn the pillow
drift back....waaaay back

......drooling a river

I highly recommend it

Wait.....

here it comes again

lay-Z-boy is tilted back

I've been fed

lights are off

TV is on (who cares)

Yeah, I can do whatever I want, I can sleep all day and be up all night. But the rest of the world still wants a 9-5 gig. It's unbelievably selfish of them, but my docs don't have 3 AM hours. Nor do the guys, who work on my car. Plumbers, too. etc.

I hibernate when it snows or rains like it is today.

That's the beauty of retirement, I can choose to stay home when the weather is bad... and I love to do that. I don't necessarily sleep, but I just love to know I can stay home, and not have anyone visit, or me have to be somewhere... Bliss!

Yes, that's so true ☺️

I don't really hibernate at all, but during the winter I tend to sleep an extra hour. No naps for me but I sleep well at night. This year my girlfriends are asking me out to lunch, dinner or want to go see a movie. Seems they are needing some light entertainment, and I'm happy they think of me!

Since it takes so long for it to get light this time of year, I crawl out of bed about 7 AM. In the spring and summer, it's the extra light and the robins singing what gets me up and moving.

I'm so glad to see some of you saying this and sharing my thoughts on it. I was feeling kind of lousy that the world seemed to move on while I was still being cautious of people breathing in my face and getting much too close in my airspace, so I am mindful of that. Our numbers have been climbing again... last time I tried to say something to my sister about it, I could tell she thought I was being "an old poop" about the subject. Two weeks later she was in the hospital with Covid pneumonia. In my eyes, way too many people are ignoring it. For the record, my sister is fully vaccinated and it has hit both her and her husband a few times now... I'd rather just stay away from people until it truly feels safe again.
I am sorry your sister is so sick. Personally I am done staying home and avoiding crowds. Covid is not going away so have to live with it. I think it’s an individual decision because as an extrovert isolating is difficult.

My sister is almost 80 with copd so she is extremely careful and only eats in outside restaurants, etc. We have different approaches and don’t try to influence each other because ultimately each person has to be satisfied with their choices and consequences.

I tend to stay in bed longer in the morning in winter, if I don’t have to get up for an appointment I make tea, get the iPad and just snuggle up until I feel the need for breakfast

Fortunate to live in a mild climate with barely any snow, I can get out most days but, sometimes like to just have a day at home and hibernate

Nope! Cold or hot, I have to start my day with a trip to the gym or the park. Walked 6 miles at the park today and right now it's 82 degrees. However, the high tomorrow is only going to be 58. Topsy turvy temps are okay with me.

I lay down to take a nap at 11:30 this morning and slept for nearly five hours. That's all this winter weather is good for... sleeping.
