Anyone else know about the WW2 "Battle over Los Angeles" in 1942?

I was 6 years and my Mom and Dad put me and my younger brother under a bed. I remember the searchlights and loud artillery rounds! Mom and Dad both worked in defense plants.

Never heard of that "battle". The only thing I know is that sometime during WWII, a small Japanese submarine surfaced
off the Malibu coast and lobbed a few shells @ an oil refinery doing minor damage. I've seen the area.

Yes, Seattle also had Japanese subs near land there. And we all know of the fire balloons launched into the Northern forests. If not Google had a lot of info on that.
