Anyone have a recommendation for a home printer?

I had a Kodak printer that I loved. Had to dump it because it started leaking ink, (all over everything).
I guess Kodak is going out of business. Bought a Canon at Walmart because I would have to buy
replacement cartridges there.
The color printing is TERRIBLE!!! I recalibrated it and photos still come out faded and, Well, TERRIBLE!
I need a home printer that only uses a black and white cartridge and a single color cartridge
instead of six different color cartridges.
I need low cost cartridge replacements and one that gets maximum prints for the money.
I need to increase and decrease sizes of prints, easily.

Don't like the Canon at all! I may return it because I can't do art prints for brochures, etc.
Do any of you have a home printer that you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE?
What kind of printer is it?
I'd really appreciate any help you could give me. I have no one else to ask but you guys.

I've had HP for years but you wouldn't like because there's different color cartridges. But it prints like a dream!

Yeah, I think buying and keeping up with all the different color cartridges would be a nightmare!
For me to run to Walmart to buy a certain color would be a 75 mile trip each time! Thanks though!
 

There is an advantage to different color cartridges. With the combo, if one color runs out, you have to replace the whole cartridge. There are many sources for replacement cartridges that are much cheaper than OEM.
I do almost no color printing, so I have a Brother laser B & W printer. If I really need anything in color, I go CVS to print it.
 
I've had different printers over the years - HP, Brothers, Canon. My latest one is a Canon PIXMA. It's cheap to buy but you pay for it in ink cartridges. I buy the refurbished ink cartridges through Amazon, one black and one color. They're cheaper. I have had no problems with printing photos. You just have to make sure you set it up for photos. It goes a lot slower for that kind of printing to get the finer details. Otherwise, I have it normally printing at a draft speed which is fast and uses less black ink.
 
I have my printer settings on B&W, but can change it anytime. Also, since I can no longer drive, I order directly from HP and order all of the extended print at the same time. That way they are always on hand. Costs more with the extended print but worth it to me.
 
I have an HP printer, HP Envy 5530...prints, scans, copies, web photo. I love it and have had it for four years.
As for the ink, you can sign up for a monthly charge and get both black and color cartridges mailed to you at NO EXTRA cost when the machine recognizes you are getting low on ink.
For example: I pay $1.07 a month, (direct withdrawal from checking acct), for printing 15 pages. If I go over, it's another $1.00 for 10 extra pages. You also have a carryover of printing of 45 pages if you haven't used your monthly amount. There are other monthly plans, $3.99, and up as you require. As I said, when the machine is on, HP monitors and records your print count. You create an account on their website, so you can check the printing count. It's easy, affordable, no hassle, and I always receive my new ink replacements well before I need them.

That's the one I just bought and set up. The Canon Pixma.
I used the cartridges in the box. Do you think they may have been old?
Could that do it? You seem to have good prints, but I sure don't!
The printing is all faded and as if a white sheet were put over each print.
IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of Canon help, or chat, or anything.
Maybe I'll change cartridges before I return it to see if that works.

After suffering with inkjet printers for years, expensive ink, dried out cartridges when you don't print for a while, etc., I finally spent the extra bucks to get a Brother laser printer. More money up front and the toner cartridges are expensive - but for casual printing they last forever. I bought a two pack of toner cartridges 9 months ago and am still on the first one. For color printing it does ratchet up yet another level on expense. But I think it's worth it to never have to fool with another ink cartridge.

I went to Costco and asked for the simplest printer they had. He showed me the printer and said it also takes the cheapest ink we carry-SOLD! 😂. Have not had any problems with it at all.
 
I got an Epson ET 2820, a good printer and it has big tanks
for the ink, no more buying expensive cartridges, I am hoping
to get the pigment ink when I need a refill.

We needed a laser printer for some legal documents. We bought this and have had zero problems. The cartridge that comes with it lasts almost forever. Replacement cartridge didn't cost very much & is a no mess super easy to change. .

No ink was a plus we had an ink jet before & donated it.

My old HP printer has been acting up. The print is rather "fuzzy" and replacing and re-aligning the cartridges doesn't help. Today, I was looking at printers on the Walmart web site, and they have a Cannon Pixma MG2522 on sale for $39. I ordered one to be shipped to the house...free.

+1 for a laser printer, particularly a Brother. I've been printing from the same cartridge for almost 2-1/2 years, whereas my previous inkjets seem to only print less than 10% of their rated capacity.
 
Dr. Jekyll and Nathan, You have both peaked my interest for a laser printer because I do a lot of printing. They run a few thousand dollars though, don't they?

not a B&W laser. They run a little more than $100 thru Amazon I just bought a Brother printer. I got rid of my Epson inkjet because I do not do much printing, and it used a lot of ink to unclog the jets.
 
If I were in the market for a new printer, I'd look at the reviews on Amazon. Even if I didn't purchase it through Amazon, it's still a good way to find the best printer for the money.
