Anyone have a SmartTV?

I've got a TV, but it looks pretty dumb to me. It has a built-in Freeview tuner and enough HDMI sockets for the recorder and DVD player.
I don't need any more than that and if it has any "smart" functions, I don't use them. Occasionally, I'll connect the laptop to it if I want to see some obscure programme.

I have a smart TV, but my internet service is slow and at times it does not pick up the signal!! 001 1.gif

We also have a Roku that does work great but most of the channels require a paid service (Cable) to watch stuff, but YouTube is free..001.gif

That's cool! :)

Our previous tv was Samsung - great pic. But our new smart tv is Hisense 4K HD and the cost was nearly ÂŁ300 less than the Samsung and others. And the pic is really great!

I was thinking about getting a Roku but a Smart TV sounded like a better choice when I asked about it compared to what I was looking for.

Sounds like you got a great deal. Never heard of the brand but maybe they are better known where you live, no?

My old, and I do mean old, projection, 65 inch screen, which is in Florida, is great for watching ball games and movies. However, when it dies, its going to take a football team to get it out the door.

I had one of those, too, and yes, it took two strong men (both groaning ferociously) to get it out of here. It was a great, big hulking thing.

It will take 2 men to get my old tv out of here unless there is some magic way for one to do it. My old one is very heavy. I can't even budge it.

It's Chinese and husband read about it somewhere and how good a tv it is with a great picture. I'd never heard of it either. It's sold on Amazon in the US as well as here.

Do you like the picture on it? 4k are supposed to have great resolutions!

Not sure how it works, but when we got a new router - and faster - hubby had to reprogramme everything including the tv to hook up to our new wifi code.

I got a smart TV this year but did not change out my router so I haven't used the WIFI feature. My router is maybe two years old if that, but they want me to rent or purchase a new wireless one. I do like the TV with the HD. One thing that I find frustrating is you have to have someone set all this stuff up. The guy from Verizon says oh no, you can do this blah, blah, blah. It took my son and grandson a couple hours. They don't want to send techs out but I can't do that stuff! One night my TV just shut off and I called for support and they said to pull out the power plug. I could not reach it and I could move the TV as it is a big one. So then she did something on her end and presto, it was back on. Fiberoptics sometimes do weird stuff--not often but they do every once in a while. Why can't we buy a TV, bring it home and just plug it in?

I'd like to have a smart phone but it's just one bill I can't afford.

Check out ConsumerCellular, they have kind of an "alacarte" system where you pick what and how much voice-data-text you want; they start at about $10. mo. You can buy/make payments one of consumer Cellular's phones, probably the best route to take, for less hassle.
