Anyone here have kitties and use Soft Paws? (nail caps)

As I said, I understand what you're all trying to say. But that's not what this thread is about. And I'm not getting into an argument with you all about whether or not I love my cat or deserve to have him.

Then you should not have started this thread. Put an ad on craigslist specifying you are giving them away, donate them to a cat shelter or even a thrift shop.

I can think of things I have, can't use/no longer want but I would not post a thread here on SF suggesting people send me a PM with shipping information with their name and address. Aside from the fact that it's not the purpose of this forum, providing such personal information to a member, even via PM, is not wise imo.

LindaE, I understand completely why you have chosen to declaw your cat. I have a cat too and yes, I had her declawed. I had tried everything, including several different things that I wanted her to use to scratch on. But, she thought she could use those AND my furniture, drapes, and everything else I didn't want her to scratch on. I tried keeping her nails trimmed but that didn't stop her either so as a last resort, I had her declawed because she was destroying everything. I got her when she was a kitten and had her declawed as soon as she was old enough and she is 15 years old now and has not ever had any of those problems from being declawed and she is healthy. If it has ever bothered her, she hasn't shown it.

Thank you, I appreciate your post. Keeping my cats nails trimmed didn't seem to do anything either.

My apologies, it wasn't my intention to gather information from people, I just wanted to offer the nail caps to anyone who may use them. But you're right, it's not smart giving personal info to a complete and total stranger. I didn't think about that when I made the post.

Point taken.

You could offer them to a cat shelter or place an ad. There is much more chance of them being used that way - not on a forum such as this.

Well, I thought about the cat shelter thing, but I seriously doubt a cat shelter would use them. Again, point taken, I was just trying to be nice.

There's nothing wrong at all with offering them here Linda, there may very well have been a member here that would want to try them out. It was very nice of you, there's a lot of cat owners here, that's for sure, and I'm one of them.

OP when I suggested a cat shelter I doubt they would use them, but maybe someone adopting a cat would. I'd go ahead and drop them off, or even check with a couple vet's offices.

As far as all the rest…as I said, I have things I don’t want or can’t use (I’m sure others do, too) but I’d prefer not to try to give them away/offer them here at SF. Sure, it would be ‘nice’, but I’ll pass. I’ve never seen anyone else do that, but , whatever. A Classified Items forum...sure, why not.

Thank you, but apparently it wasn't the right thing to do. Thanks, though.

OP? I'm OP now? My name is Linda, if it's all the same to you.

I'm very sorry I upset so many of you and it appears this isn't the place for me. With this thread alone I've probably just killed any chance for likability around here anyway, LOL. So I think it's best I leave. And no, I'm not looking for sympathy or pleads for me to stay, I don't want that. I just don't feel real comfortable here now, which may be my own fault and I can accept that. I appreciate the time I was given, but I don't think being a part of this community is going to work out very well.

Thanks again.

Well.... I like you Linda... Don't let this turn you away... Put on your big girl pants and jump into the frey... It can be a lot of fun...

OP - Original Poster. That is a common way of addressing the person who started the thread, LindaE. And, if you don't mind, we have another member named Linda.

But I don't think you're upset about being called OP. In fact, I'm not sure why you're offended, but you'll have to work that out yourself. Good luck!

Linda give it another shot. What did we say? When you post on an internet forum you can't control what others will do so just separate the wheat from the chaff. There are some nice people here who do wish you well.

I mentioned it as well...early on. One polydactyle Siamese and one Tortie. Once the cats get used to the idea, they're fine with it. As someone said, just the sharp tips.

You don't find that cats can do just as much damage?? Even with the little sharp tip removed?

Not really. I keep a carpet remnant at the ready. For some reason they've preferred to have that over sisal or cardboard scratchers. Maybe they have an "itch" they need to scratch? At any rate, between that and [ in the beginning only ] aluminum foil covering upholstery corners, we've been unscathed around here. Oh, and folks swear by the pheromone diffusers ... I even used that when introducing a feral kitty to the household -- it worked! Don't know how. Don't need to know "how"! :D
