Anyone Here Owns a RING System? Would You Recommend It?

I've had a regular battery powered ringer on outside, with 12 different tunes plugin indoor. I'd say 1 out of 20 times, someone actually rings it. Which is frustrating as we miss the knocks more often than not...

So, as the ringer on outside no longer sticks and warranty as come and gone, I'm considering the RING which comes with a camera. Wondering on the installation, I don't like cabling lol!

Recommended or not?
 

Don't have a RING, can't help you there. Others can advise.
However, if you want to keep your doorbell (ringer), try Alien Tape (if available). Possibly a small sign that says "Please Ring". Hope you find a solution that will work for you.

Yes I have the video ring doorbell..it has been a lifesaver for me in many ways. In fact when we'd only had it a short while, it caught a doorstep thief.. and we were able to have him arrested and ultimately taken to court and fined..

It works not only when you're at home, so you can see who is at the door, and speak to them without them knowing whether your at home or away.. which means if you're 50 miles away and someone rings the bell.. or knocks.. the doorbell rings even if someone uses the knocker.. then you can answer as tho' you were at home.. they have no way of knowing the house is empty..

I not only have one on my front door but also on the side gate...
 
I have a whole house Ring alarm system, but no doorbell or other cameras. It works OK, have a cellphone app to arm or disarm. I don't pay for the "monitored" service, useless and a waste of money. My main criticism of Ring is that the system doesn't have an outside siren, which is the most effective feature of an alarm system.

that's because it's not a burglar alarm..it's a doorbell..(y)

ye the same with the Ring doorbell... People think you can only see whose standing on the doorstep, but it has quite a wide viewing distance. I can see across the road.. as well as about 50 feet either side... but because my side gate is inset from the front door.. if someone was hiding there I wouldn't be able to see them, hence the doorbell on the side gate as well

Here's the Ring system I bought: Ring Alarm 5 Piece Kit (1st Gen) – Home Security System. I bought a couple additional motion sensors.

Amazon does sell all different kinds of Ring doorbells, I didn't buy one as I didn't see a need. The main function of an alarm system is to scare away the burglar right away, hence my desire to have an outside siren as well. The indoor siren is loud and nerve-racking, designed to cause panic and haste. If an alarm system can't at least do that, it's worthless.

you know there are much cheaper Smart Camera doorbells out there now.. you wouldn't necessarily have to pay for an expensive Ring System if funds were tight... for example.. this one on Temu...for under £14, and has good reviews...

For many years we have had Ring cameras front and back as well as two indoor Ring cameras, one upstairs and one downstairs. I also have a Google Home Nest camera in my home office. The monitoring service for both of these is not all that expensive. Although we live in a very quiet suburb where home break-ins and home burglaries are rare, I like having the feeling we are reasonably secure against such things. Our neighborhood is or appears to be full of Ring camera and similar gear. I highly recommend that both homeowners renters and tenants have this stuff. For my wife and I it is money well spent. BTW the Ring system has an outside speaker that lets you talk to whoever is there as well as set off an audible alarm.
 
Dear @hollydolly , thanks for the Temu tip. However, I've been warned to stay away from this company by two neighbours. One saw amounts of extra cash being taken out of her account. The other had major problems of never receiving as EVRI doesn't have good reputation.

well I;ve bought a lot from Temu... I've never heard of anyone having money taken from their account that shouldn't... and believe me there's literally millions of people who are customers.. and never once has that been reported in the Media....nd even if it was in fact true. the way to stop that happening with any online company is to remove your card from the website straight after a transaction.

As for Evri..they're just a delivery company ..one of many used by Temu... & Amazon as well as other companies.... with every delivery company the luck of the draw is with the driver... ...also Temu use not only Evri, but other companies including Royal Mail....

I have a very good delivery driver with Evri.... if I'm not here he puts me items in the shed at the back ..and locks it..

However.. with regard to the cheaper doorbell.. I'm sure you could find it on another website..

You have received a good warning about this company....heed it!
Also if you buy El Cheapo ... you may be let down when you most need your security.

I cannot recommend our system because it might not suit you. We have perimeter security, all combined with doorbell, screens and able to check each room when we are away. It is complicated and very pricey.

Tracking is the best I've ever had with any online market place, they keep you updated every step f the way until it reaches your doorstep. First Temu tell you when they've received your order, then when they've dispatched it, then Evri, give you a date of arrival.. and Temu promise if a parcel is late you will receive a £5 cash refund..

I have never had a parcel late they all come earlier than the cut off date..

A second review warns that they will not refund you if you don't receive your parcel..or your item is defective... again.. nonsense.. I;ve had to have several items refunded, they do it within 30 seconds of receiving a picture showing the defective or unsuitable item.. and 10 times out of 10 they've refunded and asked me to keep the item..

Another negative review there said that items are tiny.. and not representative of size... well that will happen if you don't read the description on the page...

I have bought items exactly the same as the ones I've bought from Amazon at a quarter of the price...

Sure there's cheap tat on there , it's market place.. a place for thousands of businesses just in the same way Amazon is.. but there's equally some very good quality items at a vastly reduced price..

You don't have to shop there Supernatural... that's your prerogative but just bear in mind..Temu has come onto the market hard , fast and cheap... and is giving the big 4 online Market places a run for their money. Currently 2 major ones have tried to prevent Temu from continuing, and Temu is now in a multi million $$$. Court battle with them.. so bear in mind those negative reviews might now be all they seem..

😊Yup, I hate when people don't bother to read descriptions properly. Or can't be bothered to read and convert the sizes stated out in said description. It's so appalling lol!

As a reviewer for Amazon, I get request to answer questions from other customers. Sometimes I do give good replies. Other times, I just delete the request just because, if they'd read it correctly, they'd have the answers to their questions. It's sometimes SO OBVIOUS 🤣🤣🤣
 
I'm not looking for a complete CCTV style system this time around.

So thanks to the ones who commented. Very much appreciated 👍.

I'm on Amazon weekly looking for items that we can't get downtown or at half the price, so bargains. However, I came upon a few YouTube videos that were all about the RING system. It's basically covering our immediate needs. Doorbell is there, two way talking with person at door (which when it's about things of owners installation) then I could tell them quickly, nope, not interested).

Then with the video facility, I won't miss packages again as I can tell them where to deliver it and I can pick it up on way back. Which is another great feature.

So, I was curious to see if people who owns it are satisfied and would recommend this item. Thanks for your help, much appreciated 👍
