Anyone Taking Collagen Supplements?

Read an article about Jennifer Anniston who swears by this for skin, nails, hair etc. And being of the vain type ;) I had to research collagen.

Surprised to find that a whole host of other things pertaining to health, not vanity are attributed to collagen, and what really caught my eye is that it is supposed to be good for joint pain.

I never had any pain whatsoever until a few months back when I developed phlebitis in one leg after lifting something I had no business lifting. Phlebitis cleared up but left me with occasional pain in the hip area. Wonder if collagen would help. And if I can come off looking like Jennifer that would be a bonus.

Anyone using and for what?

Yes, lots of people think it's great. I stopped taking it because I was taking too many supplements and it was getting ridiculous/expensive.

There are several types of collagen, from different sources, that are good for different things. The main ones to know about are Types I, II, and III.

I do, for hopefully various health reasons (not for looks; I have given up on that;))
I do want to report that while doing so, I have not begun to resemble Jennifer Anniston, in any way!:ROFLMAO::giggle:

The wording of your post, struck my funny bone, Lee, and I thank you for that uplift. :)

I like to think that the powdered collogen peptides, are an easy way for me to add the additional various amino acids, especially because I am limited in the foods that I am able to eat.
I do not know if they have helped any of my medical conditions, specifically.
It is expensive, but a canister lasts quite a long time, and is likely cheaper than purchasing the protein foods that would likely make them unnecessary, (and which I myself cannot eat, which is my personal primary reason for buying them.)

I use NaturesPlus Collagen Peptides I through V. I originally started for my joints, but found out after several months my hair started to get a little thicker again & was in better condition. My hair was bad & getting worse after having gall bladder & several other surgeries. No hair supplements I tried were working. I'm not sure about my joints, but they probably would be worse if I wasn't using it.

I've been using this brand for some years now, sometimes a little different variation. I use it for joint, bone, skin elasticity, etc. No miracles, no visible results, but I think it's beneficial to use a product like this in our later years. I was using bone broth for awhile, but didn't like that, and it wasn't very potent.

Yes my wife has Knee, Back, and Neck pain in her joints. She has been taking two different peptides now for about 3 weeks and tells me they really help with her pain and she gets around much better now.

Natural collagen production slows as we age............... if we are doing things more physical or we overdid it ........taking an extra scoop (as i think the powder is better absorbed then just pills) seems to ease the pain or speed up recovery.

i was traveling and had my DIL take some she felt small joint aches lessened after a few days too.
