Anyone want to chat about anything at all? 🤓

I help him with taking care of the house that he used to be able to do and do some personal tasks to help him. He has had some serious health problems but is doing better.

I am thinking that you are feeling better by your posts. You sure do post early in the day.
I'm glad your husband it starting to feel better. Yes, I am feeling better now. I deal with depression a lot of the time plus this grieving is hard to and sometimes I just have to be to myself for some hours. I'm not doing bad today.

I do post early when I am up still and can't sleep yet. I hope your week will be good!😊❤️

It's good to see your posts, this morning , Ruthanne, and to also read posts from others, on this nice thread that you started. 🥰
I'll stop by again later, when I am more alert, myself. 😊
Nice to see you, too, @Kaila I am enjoying chatting with everyone here and learning new things, like the aquaponics!

Sorry to hear that 😔 I take some medicine for sleep 💤 but sometimes even after taking it I still can't sleep 😴
Believe it or not, when I have a hard time falling back asleep if I wake up during the night (which is the majority of the time), I take deep breaths, which usually do the trick. But if not, I take something, along with my breathing, that does the trick. I fix myself a cup of Lavender and Chamomile tea every night. That helps put me to sleep.

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your babygirl doggie. Are you thinking of getting another doggie? I think someone already asked this question? I hope you are doing well.
Thanks! No, right now I'm taking a break from caring for an animal. It's been rough dealing with her loss. Some days are worse than others but right now I am feeling alright. Nice to see you again!

I haven't tried deep breathing for sleep yet but will keep it in mind. I, too, like chamomile tea. I have a ton of it on top of my refrigerator. I'm glad you reminded me! It has helped me sleep 💤 😴 in the past. Those are great sleep ideas. Glad they work for you!

It's another late, long night up. I got dinner made: noodles and cabbage and a salad. I didn't have any of the salad yet so I put it in the fridge.

Watching a good movie on Netflix now about a man who opens a restaurant and all the hoopla he is going through to get it up and running. It's called Nonna's.
I'll get back to it soon 🙂

Do you have the fish and plants in a big aquarium or what? I'm trying to picture it. That sounds very interesting!
There are certainly smaller versions, even ones like you mentioned for indoors! Ours are made from IBC totes. The pictures below are from the web, I haven't taken photos of ours yet.

Basically you cut the inner container in 2 sections, one smaller than the other. Bottom one is filled with water and fish (or river prawn). We will be getting bass and catfish to start; the fish will eventually be dinner. :) The smaller container is flipped over and filled with media - in our case it is clay balls - and the garden will be planted in there.

There is a bell siphon & small pump. The water below is pumped up top, where it filters through the media garden, providing fish poo nutrients to the plants. It drains back down into the tank and cycles through over & over. This is our first year doing it.

Do you like fishtanks? I saw, when searching for the above pics, some pretty neat aquaponic indoor tanks. That might be fun!

I used to have some pretty big fish tanks. Thanks for telling me about them! You certainly are good at doing the hydroponics!

I need to get some magnesium. I was taking it for other reasons besides sleep but it's good to know it can help sleep, too. I have some in my multi-vitamin but not enough. I try to get the separate magnesium that's about 250 mg.

Did you get out today? I wish I had but my wake/sleep hours are a mess right now! I slept from about 9 am to almost 8 pm. I don't know how this got so crazy but I have to try and change that. I have some phone appointments in the next few weeks and need to be awake....
I did get outside. Went for a walk and it was really nice. Once I get outside I always enjoy it. Makes me feel good. So good in fact, I did a load of laundry!

Hi Ruthanne, maybe you need an antidepressant medication? It might help to get a hobby like planting some indoor plants and taking care of them, or do some online games like picture puzzles or something that helps your mind to concentrate.

When I cannot get to sleep, I start counting 1 to 3 slowly over and over so I quit thinking so much. I usually can sleep but if my mind gets too active, I try that technique.

I wish you a nice day and try to get outside. :D

Several people have mentioned tips for wakefulness.

I find audio books helpful for sleep.

I listen to audio books every night, but I have certain, "comfort books" I listen to on nights when sleep is difficult. I just let them play and when I wake throughout the night, I am somewhere in a story I'm familiar with and can just listen until I fall asleep again.

I have an Audible account, which is a bit expensive at $16.00 monthly, but you do get two books for free for signing up and there is a large selection of books to listen to for free with your paid account in addition to the monthly book credit.

There is also, Overdrive, which you can use through your public library to listen to books for free. :)

Yes, I could not live without AC. It gets so miserable with heat in Texas. I don't go out a lot anyway but even less so in the summer. May seem silly, I have central AC, but I have a window unit stored in the garage. If the central went out I could put that in on one side of the house in I have a bed, bath and kitchen on that side. @Ruthanne, sorry about the delay in my answer.... computer was acting up.
Blessed,
If you don't mind, I'll jump in here. Over 20 years ago, our central AC and Heat went south. Too expensive to repair. I bought windows ACs as I could afford them, eventually taking care of almost every room in our house. One surprise was that my electric bill went down dramatically! Now, I have replaced two of them with newer Inverter units that use much less electricity and are super-quiet. My bills went down a little more. At this point I am enamored with widow units. Who would have thought that they would save me money. Just my two cents.

Have a good day,

-David-
