Anyone want to talk about cosmetic dental treatments?

I was looking at my dentist's website and all the cosmetic treatments available. The only thing which I have done is the cleaning. Has anyone had any cosmetic dental treatments? Any you would recommend or avoid?

Avoid it. I had veneers put on my four bottom, very crooked teeth. I’d never thought of it except the dentist would ‘mention’ it in passing. The teeth were bothering me so I convinced myself it was a good idea. It wasn’t. They bother me in a way the natural ones didn’t.

When I was a kid I wore braces. I guess that was cosmetic back then. Nowadays almost every kid has them.

Uhhhh yeahhhhh. Tried veneers…sort of against my dentists recommendations because my teeth were striking and chipping. I choose to do six teeth. Huge mistake…kept knocking teeth together and losing the veneer . Doing six teeth meant that the fix to the problem could only be six crowns. In a proper veneer there is NO going back to original teeth. Thank goodness my dentist was a perfectionist and the crowns are beautiful. If i had started with the crowns there would of only been two.

Yes, veneers are not something I would consider. I worked with someone who had veneers and she was forever rushing to the dentist because a veneer had fallen out! They were really expensive too. Do you still have veneers?

Oh that's interesting. The lady I worked with only had some upper veneers on the front teeth. So far, my natural teeth are fine. I am hoping they stay that way! 🤞

I have 2 implants (mandibular (bottom) molars). They are wonderful. They are not for everyone, if you have problem with bone growth.

Right now I am awaiting putting in the implant in my front tooth. It has been a couple of months waiting for the bone growth. Will be another several weeks until I get the tooth screwed into the socket.
Had to spend the money or I would never leave the house. :) But he is letting me pay it out.

But right now I can do a great impression of a witch. :)

Sorry, I just realized that this (to me) is necessary. The thread is cosmetic. Can delete.

I wasn’t expecting to get cosmetic dentistry however I went in to get my teeth cleaned. My mouth was completely frozen so I couldn’t tell how aggressive this hygienist was until she’d finished.

Well I had the nicest cap done by a specialist who I had waited to see and wasn’t disappointed. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this cap but after she’d finished with my teeth the top line of my capped tooth was showing. I was so ticked off.

Went back the next day, got no apology from the hygienist. She just said to speak with my dentist. I had to get a new crown made which does look nice but I then had an uneven gumline so I was talked into getting my upper gums cut higher so my teeth didn’t appear so small.

My biggest concern was that I’m a vocalist and saxophonist and I wasn’t sure that this procedure would change my embouchure. Would I still be able to sing and play the same? I was. The procedure was mostly paid for by my insurance and it turned out really nice. I’m glad I got it done.

Don't delete! Any dental experience is welcome and, you never know, may be helpful to someone who might be needing the same sort of treatment. Thank you for posting :)
