I don’t follow the ponies or do I seldom bet. I do watch the 3 races this time of the year. The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. I usually bet $100 across the board. I always bet on the least favored. I didn’t do well in the Derby. On Saturday, I again bet $100 across the board on Gosger, the number 9 horse. Early odds were 20-1, but he went off at 15-1. Gosger finished second, or Show and paid $9. I think I won $450 less the $200 I had bet on win and place. I should walk away with $250. Anyone know if this is right?
I don’t bet enough to understand how they figure the payout.
The winner, Journalism, was about 5 lengths behind going into the final turn and won the race. It was exciting to watch. This horse finished second in the Kentucky Derby.
