Apple issues new warning: Keep your iPhone 6 inches away from your pacemaker.

An important heads-up for iPhone owners: Apple is warning customers that its smartphones could interfere with medical devices, including pacemakers.
In a notice published on Apple's support page Saturday, the company expanded upon previously issued safety information, warning users that iPhones contain magnets and radios that emit electromagnetic fields, both of which "may interfere" with medical devices such as implanted pacemakers and defibrillators.

I worried a lot about what I could use when I got my pacemaker, but they said that a cell phone and iPad were fine. I always use speakerphone anyway, and usually it would be at least a foot or so away from my heart.
The doctors should warn people about that , because if an iPhone could be dangerous, then probably so would most any other smartphone.

it's the magnets in the new Iphone 12 specifically, Yvonne....

I suspect that in coming years, there will be a rise in Mental and Neurological issues in people who spend excessive amounts of time with their cell phones glued to their ears. These microwave/electromagnetic waves, so close to the brain, may result in some unforeseen issues.

My daughter just got a new iPhone 13 and gave me her iPhone 12, so now I suppose I will have to be concerned about the magnets. I am careful to keep anything away from the pacemaker, and I always use my phone on speakerphone anyway, so I should not have it close to my heart at any time. Thank you for the explanation, @hollydolly !
