Appliances you should never buy according to this...

I’ve purchased a few things out of curiosity that ended up in the charity shop.

I’ve also purchased a few things that were overly complicated or that had features I didn’t use.

These days I’m down to the basics but every once in a while something still piques my curiosity.

I have a window unit in my bedroom it helps quite a lot in the middle of summer....;)
It's quite true we have no AC here, most hosueholds in the UK don't... so the last 3 years where our temps have been very much higher than usual , it's been horrible to try and sleep, with only the help of oscillating & ceiling fans .

Most of us have double gazing which would make it difficult to install a window fan.. and full AC installed in the walls costs a fortune here..( all brick walls inside and out )...because they're not popular, or haven't been...

I have reverse air AC in my home in Spain..everyone has it..and it's cheap to buy and have installed, but not here unfortunately..

I don't have dishwasher here in the uk house either ... but in the UK house I do have a tumble dryer which I don't in the Spanish house...

Most of my life I used a strong exhaust fan in a window or better yet the attic instead of an AC. I could open a window and create a breeze. That was fine up until a few years ago. An AC will ruin ya but sometimes it is a necessity..

In N.Scotland, heating is more useful than air conditioning. Although most cars have A/C, houses don't. I do have a dishwasher (don't know its DB rating) - more concerned with it's efficiency and how good it is. We have a separate washing machine and drier (which isn't used much) and an electric range cooker. We don't gave gas here and an induction hob would require a higher rated electric circuit than standard in UK.

One thing I wish I’d upgraded was the kitchen vent; it’s too loud so I don’t use it unless absolutely necessary.

I didn't know they still make combo washer/dryer units ... I had one back in 1964, and it was awful!

As for gas kitchen ranges, I believe they are superior to electric, but when you live where there is only electric service, well you don't have much choice. :)
... All my major appliances came with my apartment, including the 'noisy' dishwasher. But it sure cleans well, so I won't complain.

We replaced all our appliances since moving in 6 years ago. I start with measuring the space in which it must fit.
Some other things are personal taste. We are glad we chose a french door fridge over a top freezer or a side by side.
