Are drive-in movies making a comeback?

I would definitely get into going to drive-in theaters, if they came back. I hate traditional theaters, as they now stand. The crowds are annoying, the price of concessions, ridiculous.

Yeah, bring back drive-ins. They're also better for certain "activities," if the movie is a flop. I haven't been to a movie theater in five years.

Would be fun eh? Wonder if I could still sneak in the trunk of the car?
We used to do that!

Also remember dropping off those who didn't have the money to get in, a few hundred feet (prior to the check-in gate), and once we were parked, the people we dropped off would sneak through the bushes and trees and re-join us!

And yes, we snuck a few into the drive-in using them as floor mats in the backseat of the car!

Anything went! :)

Also, we could tune the car radio to a channel that picked up the drive-in movie, so to heck with those cheap, ill-sounding speakers on the poles! We had stereo!

The news in Texas is they are coming back. The problem with that in Houston is the summer are too hot to sit in the truck or cars even at night time.

It would appear that yes indeed they are making a comeback in places where they have large outdoor spaces to accommodate them , since the pandemic began..

In South Korea, they're big business...click here for more pictures...

There is one near me, called the Vintage Drive in, that opens every summer. The owner is planning to reopen in a week or two, as soon as he gets some distancing in place. One car space between each vehicle. You can call the concession stand, pay with a credit card, then do a touch less pick up at a window. I forget how they are doing the payment at entry
