Are there things you won’t talk about?

Sure there are things I keep private. Don't we all? Such private things might not be of interest to anyone else, so why bore people with it?
it's ok Chic... if you tell us you danced naked for King Saud... of Arabia... or was the Secret female lead Robber in the Great Train robbery... we won't be bored...:sneaky::D

You are making very valid points re. the Internet! Crooks and scammers are gathering information on you on every platform you use. It isn't smart to give too much personal information away. I share a lot with people on this Forum but nothing that could be used against me by the bad guys!
I'm the same.. I've been using forums for well over 20 years.. I'm very aware of the things I can talk about.. and it might seem a lot to folks.. but there's nothing that a lurker can use to harm me..

"Of course, I wouldn't dream of disclosing that 7932 was the combination to my ice cream warehouse, because..... erm.... hold on a second..... I'm just changing the combination.... not that I don't trust any of you fine folks, it's just that some of you might tell the Great Ice Cream Safe Robbers about my stash." 😊

As opposed to our more innocent days! I remember being a member of a group on the usenet: alt.(hiding group name) back in 1994. We shared names, photos, occupations, likes, dislikes. Some of us even travelled to meet other members of the group! You couldn't do that today! I still miss the usenet. One can still subscribe to it to this day but it is a shell of its former self. All the other platforms have taken its place!

I still travel to meet other members... well I say Still, but up until Covid hit.. .. always women.. always groups, we've gone for lunch.. we've met at the oast for a day out ( these are different groups of women)... and all here on uk forums..

As I get older I start to believe that some things in the past should be just accepted and it is part of you life so just move on. Life seems shorter and shorter and holding on to things just doesn't make sense to me. Trying to live in the now as much as possible (not always achieved I am sorry to say) so I guess I would say I don't really want to talk about certain things if they relate to the past.

Of course there's things that I wouldn't discuss.. or would only discuss with certain individuals.. some things are too painful... some things are too embarrassing, some thing are just not anyone else's business.. and whether we like it or not, we live in a judgemental society, and so even if you're as open or honest as you can be you're going to be judged by society at large.. who needs that ?
So well stated! ⬆️

Geez, you'd think a girl couldn't try to get a little Rocky Road now and then! 🍦

I’m an open book. I have no secrets, but I don’t want to talk about others. For example: my son has mild autism and sometimes my close friends ask me personal things about him. I know he would be embarassed to hear us discussing him so I don’t. That’s his story to either share or not.

It all depends on who is on the other end of the telling. Not everyone can be trusted not to repeat all they
hear.

Once bitten, twice shy, as they say.
Repeating is bad enough but, sadly, twisting what they hear is even more common! I wish the Internet hadn't made me into such a cynic! So far, so good with this Forum!!
