Are We A Representation Of Why The Media Reports Mostly Bad News?

I have noticed that some here expressed concerns about so many terrible events being posted. But I've also noticed that those are the threads that get the most replies! Is that what the news media has experienced too, so they bombard us with bad news stories?

I've noticed that too. It's disturbing. Our brain is a recorder. What we feed it stays forever. But sometimes WE aren't feeding it. THEY are. When we open a thread we don't know what we might see until...Bam!...there it is, especially images. Now there forever in our brain.

To test out your question, I started a thread for good news headlines.

Uplifting Headlines - The Bright Side of News

When the news gets me I look around me at my local and home space. Then I relax.
All is fine and I think most of us on this forum are fine.
The media needs sensationalism. That said, I keep my eyes and ears open and stay prepared. Just in case.

The "news" has always been bad, except when it's about rare things like the moon landing. It's the 24 hour cycle that's destroying our peace. Everywhere we look, it's already there to see. One must fight not to see or hear it. One must have purposeful ignorance and that is hard to achieve.

A good friend once passed on a sagely bit of advice to me years ago. "Be very careful about what you let into your mind."
I so agree. Ultimately, we decide how much of this negativity gets into our lives, our worlds. We can be controlled by the alarmists or we can examine the situation for ourselves and make our own judgements.

Believe half of what you see & nothing what you hear was something my Grandpa used to say. I believe there is another side to the story that we don't get to hear from the news. The news is all about ratings, being the first to report & sensationalism.
