Are ya "Vapin"?

Wondering if this "electronic cigarette" phenomenon is a North American thing, or global? Evidently, the "vaper" gets nicotine but without smoke, while "enjoying" all the psychological benefits of "sucking". Can't help but wonder also, at the huge clouds of vapor they belch out, how much nicotine and what else, is still contained in it, left over for the rest of us to breathe? imp

"E-Juice"?? Energy juice?

Well first it looks goofy. My take on it is nicotine lozenges make a nice methadone effect compared to smoking. Cheaper than a carton, you can munch them anywhere, you're not inhaling anything nasty and you can use them for years. I still dream of Newports, but really vaping sounds like a dumb habit.

I tried the e-cigs a few yrs ago. As a result I cut way back on regular cigarettes, but the e-cigs are expensive. It still looks like you’re smoking, so I don’t think employers want people vaping at work except on breaks. And I'm not sure about the safety of e-cigs.

WHO (World Health Organization) says vapor cigs are as dangerous as tobacco and they have been banned in public buildings in New York and LA.

That's interesting news, chic! I still wonder, other than containing residual nicotine, how the things generate "smoke"; it lingers awhile unlike plain water vapor, so must be generated specifically to provide that added psychological "kick". imp

Looks kinda silly; like "play acting". But if it helps getting off the real stuff, I'm all for it.

I guess the addicted pot smokers don't care what they come up with, they'll just keep on
keeping on.

Pot for REAL medical purposes is the exception, however.

Oh dear, finding old post again 🤣🤣🤣

Regardless, hubby knew that I wanted to give up cigarettes and introduced me to vaping. From that day in, I gave up the fags and I've never felt better. My asthma which I can't control with inhalers due to some ingredients to which I'm allergic, has actually diminished since switching.

Vaping is just water vapours leftover as the nicotine dissipates the same way as the gases we expelled from regular breathing. So no secondhand smoke, which is a good thing.

Some equipment can be a bit pricey. However, there's always an outlet with good reputable manufacturers (just do loads of research online and asks vaping people about their preferences and recommendations).

I've recently tried a new system which turned out horribly wrong as the pods are fragile and break too easily, so a waste of money there. Nevertheless, got digging into research after an ecig store owner recommended a different brand. In my years of Vaping, I'd never experienced such wonderful flavours from my eliquids and this new POD kit. Just Amazing!

Just my humble opinion!

I gave up cigarettes completely several years ago by vaping. I no longer have "smokers cough" and can breathe deeply again. I haven't had any bad side effects. My clothes no longer smell of tobacco. I don't have to go out to the cold garage to smoke anymore. All the "experts" say how bad vaping is, but so far nothing in my experience supports that theory. I think it's just the anti-everything people jumping on a new wagon. Probably the same people who want to outlaw fast food places because their food causes obesity.

Apparently, they have all those flavours so that young people start smoking. They become hooked and are addicted for the rest of their lives.

You can be sure that the tobacco companies are working 24/7 to make sure that as many of you as possible die of cancer as quickly as possible. I have noticed that they are succeeding with the younger generation too.

Fairly common site these days is a young guy in a hoody, vaping and on his way to the cannabis store. Around here we have a lot of cannabis stores named "Farmer Jane."

I am sure e cigarettes are not good for you, but I think its too soon to know all the hazards. It took many years for lung cancer rates to rise after cigarette use rose. I kind of doubt they are as dangerous as cigarettes though. The CDC presents a pretty balanced analysis, they seem to conclude that e-cigarettes are better than real smoking, but not a great idea and a lot of uncertainty still exists.

I do neither.

Checking out the World Health Organisation's findings:

Respiratory irritation, abnormalities in respiratory function, lung oedema, airway epithelial injury, sustained tissue hypoxia, increased respiratory complications, cytotoxicity, ( the term for how toxic a substance is,) oxidative stress, increased inflammatory markers, impairment of endothelial, increased platelet and leukocyte activation, increased platelet aggregation, increased arterial stiffness, systemic inflammation, endothelial dysfunction. Which all adds up to a dramatic increase in cardiovascular risk.

Not exactly a fun way to speed up the time in meeting your maker.
