I don't know if your mom is still living but if any senior needs food and cannot get out and does not have family to step in and help your local community may have a senior/elder care service which provides intake programs to help at minimal cost. No one needs to be alone in this.

Thanks for pointing that out, Chic. You're right that there are local services that can probably help seniors in need.

Sad to say, my mom passed almost 8 years ago.

If grocery delivery hadn't been available, I would have figured something out between family, friends and my ability to shop at grocery stores that were open 24/7 at that time.
