Are You A List Maker?

I think I have made "lists" all my life. Now that I am retired I will make a list of what I want to get accomplished for the week. But I don't seem to get as stressed if everything is not checked off at the end of the week. I make lists of what home improvements I want to do (like painting, replacing fixtures, yard work, etc.). Am I the only one that does this?

I am also a list maker. I love checking the items off at the end of the day or week. It makes me feel like I am really accomplishing something. My problem is that sometimes I keep adding to the list, which then stresses me out.

Yes, I am a list maker.....unfortunately I am also a list loser.

Inevitably, I'm calling from the grocery store: "Honey, is my list on the dining room table? No? Ok, try the counter. Hmmmm. Maybe in the bathroom? OK, I'll hold. Not there either, huh? OK, what about on the bed. YES, I KNOW DARN WELL I SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL WITH MY LIST, OK????? JUST GO LOOK FOR THE DAMNED LIST!!! Alright, I'm sorry for yelling. Can you remember what we need?"

Maybe a temporary tattoo on my arm?

My husband is more of a list maker than I am, if he has repairs or projects, etc. he makes lists and crosses off things that are done. I make lists for grocery shopping, that's about it, and yes, there's been a time or two that I forgot to take the list with me.

Maggie, good that you don't get stressed if everything isn't crossed off your list, best way to be! :)

I make lists for grocery shopping but that's about it. I should make lists for other things and maybe I'd get more done. Then maybe I'd be disappointed, who knows? :)

You're certainly not alone maggiemae, I'm a great believer in lists, always jotting down what I need on a 'shopping list' and also have a 'Monday to Sunday' list of things I have to do, appointments etc for the week ahead, it makes life a little easier ...

Yes, I do make lists. It gives you a sense of accomplishment to cross things off a list. Makes me feel like I've achieved something.

I make lists for everything! To do lists. Shopping lists. Chore lists. I have packing lists on my computer for travel - checked bag, carry on bag, warm climate, cold climate, a closing up the house to do list for when we'll be gone for a month of more.

I save BREs from junk mail and keep one next to my favorite chair (command center) to keep a running list, I tuck any related information inside the envelope. I start a new one every week or so and purge the contents of the old one before transferring it to the new one. It's funny that I rarely need the list itself, I find that the activity of writing something down is all I need to actually remember the item or task.

When we left for a trip to the US a few years ago we took the bus to the ferry instead of paying for airport parking for the car. Going down the road I asked husband if he locked the back door. Nope. We both assumed the other one had. So we phoned our neighbour and asked him to lock our back door. Then I remembered we had bananas sitting in the kitchen. So we phoned our neighbour back and asked him to take or dump the bananas. We were going to be gone a month. Imagine a month old banana.

After than I made a 'locking up the house' list with everything possible on it.

I have to make lists of my lists. Ideally I try to keep a central notebook of what needs doing, odd phone numbers and things to look up. But then all the bits of paper still end up scattered. I'm in traffic and remember three things that need doing when I get home. Then I forget to bring the list in the house.

I'm not much of a to do list maker but I do like to make lists of to 10 and top 100 favorite things, songs, musical artists, albums, movies, etc...

I have a spreadsheet with most of the songs I've heard since about 2006 and then all of the songs I own including ones I heard prior to 2006. It's got over 30,000 lines in it.

You're definitely not the only one.

Big-time list maker here! Have been for years, with grocery shopping lists topping the pile.
