Are you a lousy Xmas gift giver? Do you know one?

It's hard to find a gift someone else will love. My girlfriend gives lousy Xmas gifts. She spends lots of time and effort trying to come up with the perfect gift, but....... Her heart is in the right place, well, her brain takes a hike. Are you a lousy gift giver, or do you know one?

I really try to give a gift that I think the person will like. I try not to give someone gifts that need to be displayed just in case the person really doesn't care for the item. I'm sure I've made some mistakes along the way but haven't heard any complaints through the grape vine. These days I don't have many to give gifts to. My daughter tells me what the Grand kids want. The few older members of the family appreciate food items that we wouldn't normally buy for ourselves.

I'm a great gift-giver. :D (I always include the gift receipt so they can exchange for something they actually wanted.)

I don’t give many gifts but put a lot of thought into the few I do give and try to find items significant to the recipient

One person close to me, always seems to get it wrong, I know it’s the thought that counts and always feel guilty when, after a few months, I give the gift to a charity shop

I'm a great gift giver. About thirty years ago, I gave a new girlfriend a can of artichoke hearts for Valentine's Day. She was a real brainiac, and told me it was the most unique gift she ever received. She loved it. We're still in touch, occasionally.

not that great ' but do try ' so i send card voucher .seems to work with friends . .grankids money/ older perfumes ...

My sister! Through the years, I’ve put thought and effort into her gifts, she, on the other hand goes to Walmart and finds whatever and buys it. My husband received shirts that claimed he was ‘grumpy’ or ‘bah humbug’ and my 4 year old a real make up kit. Just terrible. Stopped exchanging gifts years ago.

I'm good at choosing gifts that others will like. I also am a personal shopper as part of my work, so I get lots of practice! :p

I learned years ago to be very careful of things I admired around my husband. I had "oooh'd" over some puppies so on Christmas morning I got a puppy with a big red bow on his neck. (Luckily I'm a dog lover but I could see where this was headed.) After that, I only admired jewelry in hubby's presence. :D

Everybody I know has their personal stores they like so I give gift cards to them along with their favorite body cream and fragrance. This year the girls will also get socks from Blue q that have crazy and naughty sayings on them. They will love them as they pertain to their unique situations. The men are into hunting, fishing and golf and love their Bass Pro and Dick's Sporting Goods gift cards. Everybody gets what they want. My oldest daughter is a pharmacist and makes a lot of money but hates to spend her money on her favorite Starbucks drinks. So she loves the Starbucks gift cards I put in her stocking!. She is 51 but she and her sister still get a stocking and say its the best part of their Christmas. I buy things all year long for their stockings. I love finding unique things for them.

Those do sound like great gifts, Terry.
