I tend to agree Hollydolly, but it's local, and my missus often goes there with her friend to put the world to rights over a lunch and a coffee or two. Also, my missus works at the Hertswood Academy, which is the main secondary school in Borehamwood. So whenever there's a staff do, they all go there as it's the closest pub where you can have a meal as well as a drink. Not only that, but because she's a regular there, the landlady recognises her whenever we visit and they talk like long lost friends.I know the Mop & Brooms very well..when I worked at the studios we would occasionally go up there for a lunchtime drink in summer because of the larger outdoor space .... TBH it's not my cuppa tea as a pub..I'm not overly keen on pubs which allow little children to run around... and babies screaming... when I go to the pub I want to be with adults.. and if anything older children... ..but I do hope you enjoy yours...
I just keep my head down and try not to be too embarrassed by all the familiarity, but like you, I don't like the feral children running around and making mayhem. It's normally better in the evening if we go there though, unless a large family group is in, and then it can get quite loud and rowdy.
As to
My children are 42, 40 and 32 now, so they don't normally run around screaming.I do hope you enjoy yours...
Also, the food's quite good. I normally have the fish and chips when I go there as I like the fish and the batter, and the size of the portions. However, as it's our family Christmas meal, that means not just us but my wife's cousin and her children, and her sister in law, so we'll be having the Christmas menu. I've already chosen my three courses, Prawn Cocktail to start, followed by the Turkey & trimmings, and I think I chose the Christmas pud for afters. So I hope they'll have a wheelbarrow on hand to wheel me back to the car in, coz I doubt if my old legs will carry me.
