Are you a phone freak?

I've only had my iPhone for about 2 years. This morning I went to get my phone out of my pocket, and it wasn't there!!!! Talk about panic, I felt naked without it. I used to laugh at those "phone people", who couldn't live without that little thin box.
Now, I'm one of them.
Are you a "phone person"? A phone freak?

No Ive not got a Iphone , I have a pay as you go and I make one call a month to order my repeat prescription, theres nothing I can do but text or phone ..I do take it out with me cause its for emergencies, and its kept at side of my bed at night .

Noooo, never was a phone freak and never will be. I have an old Android Moto E5 Play that I bought for $79 at Target. I turn it on and take it with me when I go out to walk the dog or go shopping.

It's strictly for emergency situations, or short calls to or from my husband. When I get home, the phone is shut off, I still have my landline for calls if I need to make any. Once in a blue moon if I need to give the cell number to a doctor or other business so they can send me a text or talk to me when I'm not home, then I give the number. That is very, very rare.

If I'm waiting at the dentist or hair stylist, I browse a magazine, I'm not one to pull my phone out and go online.

Nope, absolutely not. I have a Samsung cheapie version but never use it for Internet or anything. It stays in my purse turned off until I may need to use it a time or two a month. I use TracFone and pay around $100 once a year to get minutes which I rarely use and data which I never use.

Are you a phone freak?

I suppose I am because I don't own a mobile phone, nor do I want one. I get along nicely contacting people on my landline or by email, or this superb forum, that's enough for me. 😊

I’m not a freak😀 but I do like my iPhone. I get a new one every few years.
I like it because I get text notifications on it from drs and pharmacy etc.
Plus important messages when I’m out.
I also like that it has a camera, I can use it to pay with venmo etc.
I use it for gps and other things like that..it’s just a great help in my life.
Also no landline here anymore, so do need my iphone.
I’m sure there’s a lot more reasons I like it but can’t think of them now…I’ll go look some up on my iPhone.😄
The only thing I seldom use it for is talking. To me it’s more of a mini iPad.

I am the opposite! When I worked, I was on call 24/7! When I retired, I refused to have a phone or pager of any kind. You could not pay me to own one of those things. I prefer face to face conversations. I have an old land line with an answering machine. If anyone wants me they can get a message to me on that. If I want to see them, I will let them know. If not, I won't! In retirement I love the control I have over my own life...

Yep, I am uncomfortable when I leave home and realize I left my phone at home. Apparently, I'm convinced that something horrible is going to happen and I can't call....LOL.

So, to remedy that, I have an extra line and an old smartphone that I leave in the car and keep charged up. If I forget my main phone, I always have that one in my glove compartment. I guess I have an obsessive/compulsive nature. This gives me reassurance that I won't be out of touch if I'm on a trip and lose my phone.

I use my phone as the small, portable computer that it is, but I loathe talking on it. I just loathe talking on the phone in general, but especially with my cell phone, as I have hearing issues that are worse with the celly. that, plus it's just weird talking into a rectangular slab of plastic, rather than a real telephone handset.

I guess I am a phone freak! I have an iphone which mostly resides in my waistband. I am never without it. Once it leaves my waistband, if I don't return it shortly I feel like something is missing. I, too, use it as a mini computer for quickly looking up things, texting, emails. It's rarely used for phone calls.

I hate talking on the phone. I never answer it unless caller ID tells me who's calling. The caller can leave a message and I'll get back to them if necessary.

I stay in touch with family and friends by text. It's so much easier because I can ignore it until I have a minute to answer, people get right to the point on text and don't keep me hanging on endlessly. I use texting for business matters whenever possible and email is my second choice. I never make a phone call unless it's the only option.

The phone is also my lifeline in case of an emergency so I do like to know where it is at all times. It's in my pocket at the moment. 😁

I have an old Nokia cellphone that I keep under my pillow, and use it as a clock/alarm. I don't have phone service on that one. Also have a new basic Nokia for emergencies only .. not internet connected. I rarely
ever use it to make calls. I get robo calls that I ignore.

Yes, for all the same reasons that CeeCee listed. One day I walked to the grocery store without my purse and phone. The plan was to call my husband when I was ready to be picked up. I had change to make a phone call; the payphone had been removed. I walked home.

Without my phone, I didn’t have my grocery list either.

Nathan,
You are almost their! Dunk the phone...and get a notebook! You usually don't need a PC when out wondering. If you think you will need one the Notebook will do all and more that a phone won't! Except let people bother you... You won't believe how free you can feel without a phone hanging on our hip or in your pocket.

No, I'm not tethered to my phone. I carry my cell phone when I'm going out in case of an emergency, but it's turned off. Only a few people have my cell number, and they know if they call it, I'm most likely not going to answer. If they really want a response, they know they have to call my landline. If I feel like it, I'll pick up. Unless they say it's an emergency, they can leave a message, and I'll call them back when it's convenient for me. I dislike being at someone's beck and call. I'm in control of my phones and decide when to answer calls. They don't rule me.

I thought I was the only one who loathes talking on the phone. Thank you for making me feel less of a weirdo! I am in constant touch with my younger daughter ... by email! I don't think we have talked over the phone even once during the past year. Both of us are content with that. My wife was GREAT with the phone! My eldest daughter gave me an iPhone a couple of months ago, just to be able to get in touch with me during power failures, because I live alone and she tends to worry. I keep recharging it without ever using it.
