Are you a reader?

I have loved reading ever since I saw my first Little Golden Book, The Pokey Little Puppy, and that is the book that started me reading.
Later, it was all of Walter Farley’s Black Stallion series, and old books that my mom had, like The Harvester, and Trail of the Lonesome Pine.

Now, I read for both education and entertainment, books on health are probably the most books in my library, both online and traditional paper books.

For enjoyment, I like legal mysteries, like Robert Baileys series set here in Alabama, and Tennessee. I started with “The Professor” , and have read through his whole series, as they come out.
My favorite books are time travel, and I have also read all of John Heldt‘s time travel series (he has several of them).

And I have several all-time favorites, but the top one has remained “Leaving Time”, by Jodi Picoult, which is one of those books that draw you in for the wonderful story of a young girl trying to find her lost mother, and keeps you reading it over again because of the surprises in the book.

For the want of anything to read I would read what was available..toothpaste tubes, cornflake packets... washing instructions... now of course even if we don't read a hardback book or a newspaper , as members of this forum we all read every day here...and for many that's plenty...not for me.. Each day I read the crossword and do that ( hard copy) there's never a day unless I'm ill that I don't do the crossword .. I have 3 books by my bedside.. as well....and then of course I have my kindle with books downloaded, as well as my ipad..

I also have a monthly subscription to a magazine..

Yes. Fiction and non fiction. I got hooked on cozy mysteries a few years ago after finding one in a thrift store that featured a cat. I bought the whole series. And others.

After very little luck lately, I got 4 books at Goodwill today. One is a smoothie book, a children's book with cute pictures and two novels.

I should read more.

I grew up in the age of paper newspapers, magazines, books, and much more limited TV. And am very glad for that versus what current generations are being mentally unnaturally warped with given the Internet and smartphones.
How do you feel about Kindle and other such readers? I'm not saying I'd never buy one, but they don't appeal to me. I like having a book an actual book. Though they can be good for out of print books.

I like to read but haven't read a book in years. Instead I like to research different topics online. Medical and science materials interest me along with learning new topics in cooking and also refreshing my mind of things previously learned either through my studies, the fields I went to college for, or things taught me long ago that I have sort of forgot .

Fiction or non fiction? What is your favorite genre or topic?
I'm old and stupid, I do audiobooks. But when I was young, I read everything I could get my hands on. In 1968, I did a book report on 'Catcher in the Rye.' 8th grade.

My vocabulary and articulation all came from reading books. I could only afford college 1.5 years but I have the best vocabulary of anyone I know, and I don't hang with idiots.

As a student I had to do a tremendous amount of reading, enough to choke a horse, as my classmates liked to say. And a lot of reading in my profession, so I didn't read for fun for quite some time. Eventually I started to read again and went straight for the non fiction. I have no idea why. When I was younger I read fiction. I also read biographies now. I have a penchant for disaster/adventure non fiction books.
