Are you a "Senior" OR an "Aging" citizen?

Personally, people call me by my name so far. It's me that calls myself a senior sometimes.
After all...no one in High School complains about being called a Senior so why should I? ;)

I saw a video a member posted of Glen Campbell introducing, to the audience,
his 80 yr old mother as "80 years young" instead of old. It sounded so sweet and respectful.

Every person on this Planet is an aging "human bean"!

Me too, DebraMae, the “young lady” thing makes me see red and grow fangs! I once publicly confronted the 50ish male head of a large “multigenerational “ center here who greeted me that way and told him how we Senior Women felt about it. Now at the few times of year we cross paths, he just smiles and looks away.

I slightly prefer Senior (as in Senior Services) to Aging (as in Department of Aging), but if I was the person in charge of those organizations I would strongly prefer being called the 'Senior Services Secretary' instead of the 'Aging Secretary'.

Harrisburg, PA – In preparation for the expiration of the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) and the Major Disaster Declaration (MDD) by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Pennsylvania Department of Aging is recommending that the federal government advocate for certain service and funding flexibilities at the local level, such as meal service programming at senior community centers, to remain in place permanently.
Aging Secretary Robert Torres has written to the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL), stating that the flexibilities provided by ACL during the PHE and by FEMA during the MDD have enabled the Department and the Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to be more effective, efficient, and responsive in their service delivery, and that options such as grab-and-go meals and meal delivery have become key components of PDA's efforts to meet the nutritional needs of seniors.

It depends. If I screw up something and am around younger people I just shrug it off in front and tell them I'm old in a tongue in cheek kind of way. I get away doing that with many things most of the time :) Otherwise I 'm just me unless I am filling out paperwork concerning my health. That's when I consider myself aging.
