Wine tasters sniff, swirl and sip those glasses of wine in a performance that is meant to tell us, the Hoi Polloi, that they know their Grapes.
168 "Wine Experts" were given 3 Wines to sample and to give their interpretation.
Of the 3 wines, one was a White which had been coloured with food colouring.
All the Wine tasters got the coloured wine wrong. Naming it from Rose^ indicative grapes.

I'm half Italian and no stranger to wine, including what my Grandfather made at home. I've found over the years that price is not an indicator whether I will like it or not. My taste is for reds, mainly cabernets, and typically no more than $10 a bottle. Heck, years ago we would have the gallon jugs of "table wine" and that was just fine by me.

Me! Any decent Chardonnay is fine, as long as it's no more than £5.00 at the supermarket.
As my daughter put it, life is too short to drink cheap wine. When you buy wine, most of the cost is the bottle, tax, shipping, profit etc.. and not much is for the wine itself. Therefore paying just a bit more, you can get a much better wine.

I will get a glass or two of wine with Dinner sometimes.
But I am no wine connoisseur.

I always wondered about folks that spend a lot of monies on wine as to be honest - I can't tell the difference much at all in the high dollar wines vs the poor folks wine.
Perhaps that is a good thing !

I like the wines I get. None cost more than five or six pounds. Sometimes I've tried a more expensive wine and found I didn't like it any better. I only have one small glass with dinner anyway, it's a civilised moment of the day.

Exactly. Occasionally I have had a superb wine at a posh occasion and realised how good wine can be. Yet I couldn't possibly justify such expenses for everyday wine. My husband prefers a lager or beer, he never drinks wine. So one bottle a week is all I buy.

I have to agree with @Tommy!

When I was a kid we used to drink Boone’s Farm apple or strawberry flavored wine under the stars at the lake.😉

The only memorable ‘grownup’ wine I ever had, and enjoyed, was a spendy bottle of Châteauneuf du Pape.

These days I’m happy with an ice cold glass of milk! 🤭

I read about a study where they put cheap wine in expensive bottles and people thought it was great. Then they put expensive wine in cheap bottles and people didn’t like it. Most people can’t tell the difference which I thought was really interesting.

I'm not a fan of wine although I do like grape juice. Just don't like wine, with one exception. When I was in Germany I tried ice wine and enjoyed it very much.

Not at all. I haven't had alcohol in over 30 years. Oh okay...I did take just one sip of a wine my sister and family were raving about at dinner a few years ago. Didn't have a desire to have any more of it.

When I was a kid, I thought wine was that stuff in the little cup they gave you in church. I later learned it was Welch's grape juice. My Mom had a pair of salt shakers that were little Chianti wine bottles and they were full of wine. I sneaked a sip of one and thought I was poisoned.

I've never tasted a wine I liked. Everyone says "oh you would like mine", so I taste and ugh to me it tastes the same as whiskey or any other booze. I do like beer.

One of the beautiful things about retirement is that I no longer have to pretend to like wine. Any of it.
I've nothing against those who enjoy it, but man I just can't say I've ever enjoyed it, despite being plied with the stuff at various business functions. What I have had, I found I enjoyed a Merlot more than other types, but actually enjoy drinking it? Nah.

Like you, you just can't beat a beer. Be it an Ale, a bitter, a stout, or even a lager, beer just hits the spot.
