Are you an early riser?

I usually open my eyes just before, or around 7:00 a.m. - even if I try to fall asleep again, I usually don't, so, I get up and have my coffee and cereal. Usually, I will check email and see what's going on here.

Oh Yap! For sure I'm up with the birds in the summer. Even now, in the dead of winter, I get up "bright-eyed and bushy tailed" at 4 am. You see I'm still a country boy at heart and I guess I always will. Can't understand the other folks around in this 55 plus building. Many sleep until 10 am or even 10:30. I guess they must of been born in the city some place. Me, I get up, do floor exercises, read, play and sing with my guitar, read again, eat my breakfast, finish my coffee with some more reading and then go out for my walk. When I return some folks around here are just gettin' up. Then some of them folks end up using the TV as a baby sitter all day. I kind of feel sorry for them. Strange world I figure! I was born lucky. Always plenty of things to do and many places to go.

I find early morning to be the best time of the day. Hearing the birds chirping to each other. Seeing the sun rise.

It used to be difficult getting up, due to insomnia. No matter how early I got up to go to work, and how early I went to bed.

When I was no longer working, it was nice to be able to sleep later - until I had a baby.

I don't know when it started to change ... but, it did. So now, it's early to bed (most days) and early to rise.

I’m a morning person. It’s when I’m at my most productive and freshest. I wake naturally between 5.30 and 6, get up right away and snuggle up on the couch with coffee and my laptop for an hour or so.

That’s when I catch up on emails, social media, pay bills, order from Amazon, research…whatever’s on my to-do list for online things.

Do you have any time left open for your wife, kids, possibly grandkids and animals? Sounds like you don't have many distractions in that regard.

My wife, who'a an earlier riser than I usually eases out of bed and puts on the coffee while I'm still sound asleep. When SHE decides (haha) that it's time for me to "rise and shine" she'll usually bring me coffee and a muffin. After staggering out of bed, I'll usually spend an hour or so with my wife, coffee, maybe the TV news (if it's not too depressing that day) and then our day begins. And floor exercises - - -At 88, that would only be trying to get up after taking a fall.

I didn't mention that we share the old homestead with our youngest daughter, husband, and 2 college age grandkids, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Lived here as a child and still here today - -still in the country although a few less open fields than back in the 30's.
