Are you an early riser?

I'm usually up by 7-7:30, but not really AWAKE until 9-9:30, no important decisions before 11:00. Two cups of coffee, breakfast, some computer time, mostly hobby and tech sites. Out to the shop by 10:00, lunch at 2-3pm if at all, and back to the house for dinner at or near 7pm. Rarely in bed before 11:30. Rinse, repeat. Mike

I'll have to admit that I really admire you early risers because you seem to achieve so much. I'm definitely not an early morning person. I don't even like to talk to anyone on the phone until the afternoon.

I got used to sleeping in when I was working because I'm in CST and my company's headquarters was in PST. That meant I could go through all my emails before anyone was in the office. The downside was that I worked until at least 7pm when the office closed.

Now that I'm retired and my partner leaves early in the morning I wake up around 10am. It still gives me all the time I need to get everything done (gym, walking by the lake, groceries, appointments, cooking) before he gets home. Yes, I need a hobby!

I am totally a morning person.
For me, morning is the best time of day.......i do use an alarm for 5.
Enjoy coffee, listening to everything outside especially spring and summer.
I like to do my designated chores, first thing in the morning, then the rest of the day....
A little bit of relaxing stuff, whatever keeps me outside.

When I was working 3 days/wk at local hospital as pharm tech, had to be at work by 7am
I would wake up around 5,do my exercises, have breakfast, then leave around 6,walked 8 blocks to work
When I retired in 2011,it took me about 6 months not to get up at 5am
I'm still an early person, usually now I get up anywhere between 6-6:45am,go outside to take my early walk before I have breakfast, its how I start my day Sue

Four am, I'm impressed. I'm up at half five and in work an hour later and I'm ten years past the UK retirement age.
I used to get up at 5 am. However, here in Canada, the clock "falls back" 1 hour in the fall every year. That means the clock says 4 am but my body can't be fooled because it knows it is really 5 am and that means "bloody time" to get up. A lot of people like me hate the time change every spring and fall but it seems the business people like it. Some how they are giving us a bunch of bull by saying that we are "saving time." HA!

Do you have any time left open for your wife, kids, possibly grandkids and animals? Sounds like you don't have many distractions in that regard.

My wife, who'a an earlier riser than I usually eases out of bed and puts on the coffee while I'm still sound asleep. When SHE decides (haha) that it's time for me to "rise and shine" she'll usually bring me coffee and a muffin. After staggering out of bed, I'll usually spend an hour or so with my wife, coffee, maybe the TV news (if it's not too depressing that day) and then our day begins. And floor exercises - - -At 88, that would only be trying to get up after taking a fall.

I didn't mention that we share the old homestead with our youngest daughter, husband, and 2 college age grandkids, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Lived here as a child and still here today - -still in the country although a few less open fields than back in the 30's.
I wish I had time for my wife. She was the "love of my life" but sadly has died. My kids live in another city 2 provinces away. They are all single and I have no grandkids. As for animals, I was born on a farm and had plenty of animals for years. No dogs nor no kitties for me. I love to travel and I am waiting for this Covid madness to run it's course. Cuba is calling me and I don't mean some tourist resort. I want to spend at least a month there.

My Rosie gets me up between 3 & 4 am. She is 10.5 years old, so her bladder is like mine & won't stay all night. So we both go out then lay back down till about 7 am when we get up for the day. Course we go to bed at 8 pm also.

Sometimes at night LifeLine helicopter goes over the house on the way to our hospital about 4 miles from me real low & the blade wash sure makes a sound that wakes us, so we're up for a while up.

I sleep when I feel like it. Most of the time I sleep a couple of hours at time. My favorite part of the day is late in the afternoon when the sun is getting low on the horizon. I like to watch the tree tops catch on fire.

Wake-up time varies a lot for me. I usually go to bed around 9:00 PM but can wake up at any time, early or late. I'll have breakfast and go back to bed, sometimes to fall back to sleep and get up around 7:00 which shoots down the morning.
