Are you celebrating "Pride Month"?

I never do. If I was gay, then it would be a big thing in my life. But since I'm not, I don't really think of it. When I lived in New York City, almost every job that I had, had at least one or sometimes several gay people. So I have long since gotten used to gay people. Here in central New York, at the two nursing homes that I worked in, there were 2 or 3 transgenders. In my department, there was a guy who told me that he was
bi-sexual. One of my great nephews told me several years ago that he was bi-sexual. Since then, I found out that he's now transgender. My great nephew is now my great niece. It took me awhile to get used to that.

I felt like someone was testing me. "Okay Mr. Liberal. Let's just see how opened minded you are!" I accepted it. Why not? It's not my life. It's now his. I mean hers. I could tell it was major change for my niece. Her son was now her daughter.

I guess I don't pay much attention to these panderfests. It's enough just to resist resentment for having the stuff shoved in my face.

Parts of the Midwest have small populations of Dutch and Frisian ancestry. Where's the Dutch Month? Finnish ancestry. No Finnish Month? A majority of the US is of substantial German ancestry. Where's the German Month?

Or maybe those exist, but you sure wouldn't know it. Media coverage: zero. This alone suggests shifty motives to me. But I'm tired and probably just cranky this morning, making me unwise enough to comment at all. To me it is clear this is part of a social engineering process, but to what ends? Corporate exploitation? Political power? Manipulating gay people to fall in line and march behind a banner to be led and taken advantage of? Fomenting disunity to defuse the power of the people?

Ok, I'm going to stick with cranky.

Yes, and personally I'm not gay. For those who think this stuff is a joke, consider Stonewall, 1969 and i.e. "Matthew Wayne Shepard (December 1, 1976 – October 12, 1998) was a gay American student at the University of Wyoming who was beaten, tortured, and left to die near Laramie on the night of October 6, 1998."

Heteros don't need celebration. The Majority never does. Majority Rules. Gays don't. We're Here, We're Queer, Live With It. Allow them something. Throw a bone when it's needed. Centuries of hiding and persecution.

I'd like to preface my comment by saying the intention of my post is not to stir political debate, which is not allowed here. I am simply reacting to the theme of this thread with my honest thoughts and feelings.

I celebrate gay pride month by building upon my utter distaste, disgust and dislike for the gay priders who feel they must advertise their sexual preferences to a public who for the most part rejects their lifestyle and choice of sexual behaviors. If they care to have intimate relations including physical sexual behavior with members of their own gender, that is perfectly fine with me, however they should not impose on the public their interest in doing so. I and many others simply could not give a (.....) about how they choose to direct their emotional and physical intimacies, unless, of course, they choose to direct those intimacies toward our non-gay children.

And by the way, the many of us who are not gay have no obligation to cater to their social and political demands which are based strictly on their sexual preferences. Celebrate with others of your ilk, and do not force yourselves onto the public stage with the intent of building support for your sometimes sickening outward display of your particularly disgusting habits.

Gay pride month is another sign of how strongly the ultra-left cultural Marxists have insinuated their agenda into American life and politics. Hopefully that bunch of anti-Americans has a better plan in store when the final destruction of our society occurs. My thought is I doubt that such a group could possibly have a better plan.

How someone lives their life is their business, not mine, and I do not see it as any reason for a celebration, especially of a person’s gender identity or sexual preferences. Those things should be private parts of a person’s life, in my opinion.

We have had people who were persecuted for religious beliefs, and even just from where they came from, but we do not have month long celebrations because they are no longer persecuted or used as servants.
Even worse are the parades of underdressed people marching down the streets.
If you are gay, it is legally fine to do now, but if you are not gay, you are probably arrested for indecent exposure if you went down Main Street looking like some of the pride people do in the parades.

Thank you for verbally expressing exactly how I feel. They may be very nice people, but I find their lifestyle disgusting and offensive and I resent it being shoved down our throats. Don't we (non-gay's) have just as much right to our opinions as they do? Society has become so immoral that wrong is considered right and right is considered wrong. FYI...I don't agree with the "non-political" remark about Marxism.

Why would I? I don't care what two consenting adults decide for themselves, but shoving that decision down everyone else's throat seems unfair to me. And I thought Pride Day was on Easter this past year which really inflamed a lot of people in the U.S.. How many Pride days do we all have to endure? Why? Just curious?

So is prefacing a political comment by disclaiming political motives an effective tactic? And, do you think readers are too unaware to detect the deception?

The ultra left are not Marxists. Just because we on the left insist all Americans have equal rights, no matter what race, ethnic background, or sexual preference, does not make us Marxists.
I would like to debate that point with you. If you can find a forum or other place where that is allowed, I'd like to challenge you to a debate.

Pride Day is always celebrated on that day, and Easter Sunday fell on same date by coincidence, not design.

Well said.

Nathan, I explained that my post was in keeping with the theme of the thread. I do not intend to stir political debate here. If you care to stir it up, go ahead. And if you care to continue to confront me as an antagonist, I welcome that. I would just love to have you do that. Go for it.

It doesn't bother me a bit that a small portion of our population chooses to celebrate this topic. I have friends who are gay, and they make no issue about my choices. To me it is the same as not making an issue of someone else's faith, race or political affiliations. If someone chooses to look down upon me because I don't espouse their philosophy I try not to let it bother me.
