Are you Embarrassed about your Home Town?

Unfortunately my town where I grew up has changed since I was a kid. Crime and drugs have taken over in some areas. When I lived there we still had a few dirt roads, you could leave your doors unlocked and kids could play outside without fear. People took pride in their property.
I live only about 50 miles away and go back only to put flowers on the family graves. It saddens me to ride through the area now.

Thank you all for the replies, I apologise
for the headline, I think the "Embarrassed"
was wrong, I just wondered why some don't
admit to where they live.

Mike.

61 years since I left there, I have no attachment at all.
My sister sent me an ad for the house that we grew up in, $500,000. Our parents bought it for $3,500 in 1933.
Florida is home now.

Maybe they just don't want to give that info. People are so paranoid these days about identity theft.

Although speaking of where I live, it seems we only make the news when something unsavory happens here.

Identity theft and other hacking schemes are real. People are smart to protect what privacy they have left.
