Are you going to be spending more or less for Xmas this year?

It will probably cost a bit more because of shipping costs. We won't be decorating to the hilt or hosting big parties so I've figured out a different plan. The people who usually come to the parties will be invited to come by for prearranged quick, masked, distanced, outdoor visits. We'll send them home with flash-frozen homemade pizza and a large assortment of my Christmas cookies. If visiting doesn't work out, I'll mail the cookies to them.

Covid rules haven't affected my deep affection for friends and family. If the fruits of my labors remind them that they're loved, it'll be worth every penny and every hour I spend in the kitchen.

p.s. We only exchange gifts with our kids and grands. That won't change.

Probably much less,,just sons & grand daughters to buy for.
Oldest bought himself a big toyhauler .
Bought what he needed to set up housekeeping.

Usually would buy him foods or something for his house.
Last year we lend youngest money,, don't have any idea what hubby is thinking for him this year.

I've decided to celebrate the holidays despite not feeling in the mood. I thought I was too tired, too depressed, too financially stressed. And I am. But I have been thinking about how quickly my dad and both of my grandfathers sickened and died. They probably thought they would live to see another Thanksgiving, another Christmas. They didn't. They were dead in just a few months.

Life is precious and no one can guarantee tomorrow. So since I'm here, right now, I'm going to join in the festivities and do my best for my family. It could be our last holiday, but I hope we'll see many more. You just never know. All we can do is try to enjoy the time that is given to us. :giggle:

I'm with you packer, not sure about "sailor Jerry", never had that one but I will utilize woodford Reserve and don't forget Festus. Sorry about the loss of your wife.
You ought to try "Sailor Jerry". Good stuff if you want to sample something special. It's spiced & it's 46% alcohol which is pretty "hair raisin" if you ask me. I saw Festus last night for the 1st time. He arrived in the first 1/2 of the 8th year of Gunsmoke in a story called, "US Haggens" which first appear on TV on December 8, 1962. I don't like him as much as Chester but Chester is going to leave in the middle of the 9th year for "Greener Pastures" so I guess I ought to get used to him. My wife did not like Chester but I always liked his humour especially when he interacted with Doc.

Don't expect much for Christmas. Why? Covid-19 is still "king". No church assemblies, no live choir singing. Top Doctor says to stay home. Our Premier is hiring "Rent A Cops" to ticket anyone caught without a mask. Why? We don't have enough police & it seems that some folks just ain't obeying the law! Naughty! Naughty! When I walk outside the jets are still flying & they say that 30% of snowbirders are going from Canada to the good USA this winter despite the Covid warnings out there. Some snowbirders are spending thousands of dollars to have their cars shipped over the border since the borders remain closed to Mr./Mrs. common folks. The way I figure it; Christmas is gonna be pretty low key for most folks. If you disobey the law around here it's $1294 CND ticket. Not funny if you haven't a job to pay the ticket. Small wonder the folks around look rather depressed. Forget Happy Hours too. Oh yes, the liquor stores are all opened (they call it an "essential business". You can buy all the booze you want & stay drunk all the time. Happy Holidays.
