Are you good a backing up in a vehicle?

I must be the worst person in town for backing up. That's why I always try to find a parking spot I can pull forward from, even if I have to park far away from my destination. I do not back into my garage, I have to back out though, but then I have more room to manipulate. I had to take my driving test twice because I flubbed backing into a parking space.
 

yep I'm a star at reversing even if I say so myself , and I don't have a reversing camera either.. My husband who considers himself a very good driver, can't reverse park...and was always astnished at how well my maneuvering skills were with my car

I always reverse into a space , so I;m facing out.... but I am very good at parallel parking as well, I can fit my car into a space no-one thinks is possible..
 
Over the fifty plus years I have held a commercial driver's license, I have driven every type of vehicle that can be operated on the road in Canada, with the exception of a motorcycle. Tractor trailer trains ( double trailers totaling 70 feet long, ) liquid tankers, 48 passenger commercial buses, straight trucks, Ambulance vans, 14 passenger vans, and cars and pick up trucks. Why no motorcycles ? Ten years as an Ambulance Attendant convinced me those things can get you killed.

Driving is a SKILL that some people never manage to properly learn. Backing up is a matter of practice and attention to details. So is parallel parking. I used to be a driving instructor with Drivers of Canada and the in car training program devoted 2 hours to the subject of backing up and parallel parking. My training car was a Chevette automatic . The principles of correct backing apply to all vehicles regardless of their size.

If you can't back into a parking space or a garage, you are not a fully competent driver, in my opinion.
 
I don't drive these days, but from when I did, I can remember a couple of times having huge difficulty reversing a trailer. I understand the theory, but in practice I just couldn't get it right. Fortunately I didn't do towing very often. When I took my driving test, parallel parking (ie getting into those 'only just big enough' spaces on the street) was not part of the test. I do admire those who can do it well.
 
My F150 has reverse assist, vehicle side warning system etc. Still those neighbors kids shade my drive.
Have to be very alert for them pulling out suddenly or ripping up past us. Even driving they are
fixed on them dash phones. The oldest Grand girl, 17 is the worst at driving. No fixing it.
 
I prefer to pull through into parking lot spaces.

It was drummed into me never to pull into an enclosed garage spot, in case the battery failed and the car needed a jump start.

I can back up just fine but I would have trouble driving any distance in reverse.
 
I can't turn my head around when backing up like I used to when young, and find using only mirrors harder. Some cars are easier than others too.
 
I am awesome when it comes to backing up. Had a DMV examiner in Tacoma WA with the name tag Grouch. 5x5x5 feet. He needed the steps and grab bars to get in the truck. I asked whose insurance would pay when I parallel park with mud tires. Passed my test.
