Are you happy with your Primary Care Physician?

I like my primary Care physician but I am probably going to change because their billing people keep screwing up and filing my insurance wrong and sending me bills which I shouldn't be getting and their receptionist obviously hates her job and takes it out on me every time I go there.

Have the doctors that left private practices done this because of the high costs of their liability insurance?
Much has been said this year about an increase in the number of doctors who will no longer accept new Medicare patients.

"Physicians on Jan. 1 saw a 2.83% pay cut for the services they provide their Medicare patients, the fifth consecutive year of Medicare pay cuts for physicians. And that pay cut comes on top of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) projecting a 3.5% rise in the Medicare Economic Index, which measures the cost of running a medical practice."

The above quote from the American Medical Association.

100% happy with my doc. Though we have to laugh at our speech issues...... he speaks with a thick Indian accent and I speak southern. :ROFLMAO:
I have found doctors nurses from India and Philippines to be incredible , not saying those not from there are not as that would be insane but for most part good to go with those 2 groups .

I have found them to be so thorough and on the ball .

A few in medical practice post here and would be curious as to their opinion and again not saying those who are not from India and Philippines are substandard but those 2 groups are a safe bet , IMO.

I have not had a good primary doctor in years! I have changed doctors from time to time, as some have moved on without giving any notice to patients.😠 I now go to a NP who is.....ok, but not great.🤷‍♀️
I'm in same boat I switched Doctor tried VA yesterday but it was depressing place , rude receptionist and though Doctor / nurse were great its different one every time you go or can be different one .

I inquired about testosterone shot only for extra energy more pizzazz but VA does not do that so will find a civilian Doctor which does and enough in Miami , again just for energy more kick .

'' and their receptionist obviously hates her job and takes it out on me every time I go there.''

She can get a job at the VA but sadly one could safely say years ago that private was better then government and though IMO still is the standards now in private have become bad .

My PCP was fine and a pleasure to see until I began having some serious problems. I feel like he is thinking "well you are old, what do you expect".

There is a new senior care facility in my neighborhood called CenterWell and they apparently spend more time with each patient. They are part of Humana and I am with Aetna. I am wondering about switching.

Do you have any knowledge on this subject?

No problem in my area.

I 1st met my (new) PCP about 15 years ago when called to his office for a heart attack.... To say we bumped heads would be an understatement.
The Patient was having a massive MI and Doc was mad we didn't just load and go... The guy coded and we left doing CPR... The Doc was pissed until the guy came back to his office 4 days later.... Bragging on us about how the heart Dr said we saved his life.
Its great that I can call his office, I'm recognized by the staff, and get either hold on a second, or he will call you in a few minutes.

In a word - no. She's a condescending hand-patter and pill-pusher. Her idea of a physical is listen to heartbeat and breathing and look down the throat. No blood work even when I suggest it. When I have a complaint she says something to the effect, "You're getting older, you have to expect things are going to start going bad." She also will not discuss more than one health issue per visit. If I have a sore toe and have been having headaches, that would require 2 visits. Why do I go to her, you might ask. She is local and I don't have to drive in a busy, congested area. Also relatively short wait times to see her.

On further research I see they accept Medicare patients from Aetna and other providers.

I have blinding hate for condescending but as you stated she is convenient so I guess you take her attitude with grain of salt .

In Nebraska I saw the same doctor for years and I really liked him because he not only dealt with whatever I came in for, he'd teach me better ways to get up (less stress on knees) and show me useful exercises. My daughter didn't like him and told me he was very grumpy, but except for one time I never experienced that.

Now in Maryland I have a much younger doctor and he seems competent but I miss the extra added value I got from my NE doctor.

VA depends a lot on location. DFW is useless. OKC you get red carpet and same week specialty referrals outside the VA.

Yes, very much so. I've been with her ever since she started, which was 10 yrs ago. She's young and super smart. All her staff are easy to work with. My sister goes to her too. She's an internist.
She's the one that told me I was being over-medicated. Which was causing me so much weight gain. (n)
