I was watching an ad for something Joe Namath was hawking. All I could think was how darn old Namath looked. He used to be "Broadway Joe", all sexy in his panty hose. Now, he's looks an old guy. The thing is he's only two years older than me. Are you saying, "Oh, My, He got old, didn't he" an awful lot lately?

We found a show on Netflix called Vintage Roads, Great and Small, starring Christopher Timothy and Peter Davison. They played two young vets in All Creatures Great and Small many years ago. And yes, they've aged! But they've done it well. The show is part old cars, part travelogue, and part history. We enjoy it.

I find myself saying "isn't that that guy who used to be on that show about ________________", followed by "jeez, he's OLD!" And, yes, it's demoralizing that many of them are my age.....or worst yet....younger.

but at some point, they stopped looking that way to me.

They all just look normal to me, now.

It goes both ways for me. Sometimes it's "Wow, they didn't age well" and other times it's "I wonder what their secret is, they look great!"

I often wonder if they catch glimpses of themselves (or even obsess over) in clips when they were younger.

Gotta be weird to live and age in the public spotlight, with your every moment capture for posterity.

I just recently saw a photo of Tom Jones and was shocked. I doubt anyone is going to throw their panties at him the way they did back in the day.
I noticed the change right in my own area as well. Last year we were at our county fair and saw the vet we always used for our pets. I couldn't believe the change. It took me several minutes and confirmation from my hubby that it was him. I'm sure he would be thinking the same thing if he had seen me.

I had that same reaction to the Namath commercial! I don’t even remember what he was trying to sell. He used to be so HOT! At least the aging men look REAL, not painted and phonied up like some of the women!
