Are you set in your ways or open to new experiences?

I don't like the idea of getting out of one's comfort zone. I've spent too much of my life being uncomfortable for no reason.

As to trying new things, I'm interested in trying VR. If that counts as a new experience, I'm in.

If the new experience carries the (higher) risk of getting ill, hurt or dead, I'll pass. Those are not on my bucket list.
Ah, but that's what you should do. It's all to do with 'Micromorts' - the chance in a million that you will snuff it. When you are young, the chances of dying of natural causes is very low and so indulging in risky activities is unwise. However as you age, the balance changes and the chances of dying naturally overtakes the risk of dying from an accident. Older people should therefore be more open to taking risks.

Firstly, I'm not the first to suggest this approach. There is a considerable amount of reading available online about this. It may be 'odd', but it is logical as the risk involved in any activity remains fairly constant. I'm not that ancient or unhappy either, but I'd hate to be spending my last days regretting not having done things.

. . . and I'd just want to be alive more. To each their own.

I'd be interested to see this literature. A quick search didn't turn up anything for me. I read the entire wiki on micromorts. It doesn't talk about the concept of taking more risk as people age. The micromorts also differ a lot between countries.
