Are you short?

I'm 5-11, down from 6 feet when I was younger.

I can still make 6 feet with shoes on. But that would be cheating. :)

But I still tell them I'm 6 feet at the doctor's office because they weigh me with all my clothes on including shoes so dammit if they are going to do that , then I'm taking that inch.

5'9.5". I was 5'10" up until about two years ago. As I do less tree work with each advancing year, I'm no longer keeping my spine as stretched out by hanging from my climbing ropes.

I’m just over 5’ and have never wanted to be taller
Really , have you not?... I've always wished I was taller.. if I could have been around 5'.6'' I would have been much happier no need for all those step stools.. and people's comments about being a pocket venus, etc...... :D

My ex is 6 feet. I'm also 6 feet. So her height never bothered me. She always used to tell me how bad it was for a woman to be tall. I never really believed her. Until, we were at the grocery store. Somehow, we got talking about her height. She said guys couldn't handle it. She said she would prove it. We walked to the check out area. There was a guy, average height, in line at the counter. She said "Watch" I can make him move to another line". My ex walked up, and got in line, facing me-her back to the guy. We were just talking. She was completely ignoring him. He had his groceries on the counter. The clerk was just about to start ringing him up. Then all of a sudden, he grabbed all his stuff off the counter, and went to stand in a long line, at another check out. I couldn't believe that a guy would be freaked out by a taller female. But she proved it.

I have read, don't know how true it is but it makes sense, that if you hang upside down from a bar or something your spine WILL get longer. The problem is, how long can you safely hang? Won't the blood rush to your brain and cause problems? Hmmmm?!

I'd be a taller corpse.

6’2” and holding. My dad was 6’6” and his 1 brother was 6’7”. Everyone used to tell me that I was going to be really tall, but that didn’t happen.

Well 6'2 is quite large..... maybe not in comparison to a Basketball player 7ft tall but pretty tall just the same... 🙃
I’m not complaining, but I would have liked to have matched my dad. Sometimes he would tell me to stand up and say Grace at the dinner table. Then, he would say, “Oh, you are standing.” That joke got hold after the second time he said it.

Once I was 5'3&1/2" and told everyone I was 5'4". Now I'm desperate to maintain myself at 5 feet.

I guess "average" height depends on age, race, gender and genetics. For a Caucasian female in her late 60s, I am probably average. I use to be almost 5'6", now I'm barely 5'4", but still tower over many older women I meet. My mom was just over 5 feet tall and my dad just under 6 feet - I was in between. Young people now seem taller than when I was their age. I think people are getting taller on average.
