My Granddaughter just called me and asked me if I knew who invented the gun. I said no I don't do you? She said "Yes,
"Richard Gaitlin in 1861 during the Civil war." I asked her how she knew that and she said "I looked it up."She then said if he hadn't done that we would still be using Swords, which would be better." I said how would that be better? She said wouldn't it be better to kill one person before you took the sword out. Now with a gun, you can kill a whole crowd in a few minutes. She blows my mind!

My kids were the same way long before the advent of cellphones, they read history and science and knew how use a library to research. Since daughter a millennial she was using computers in grade schoool, but she still read a lot the old fashioned way.

Guns existed before 1861, but Gaitlng gave us rapid fire machine guns. But I agree with your granddaughter, @Sassycakes, about the so-called advancement in weaponry. The further removed the weilder of the weapon has gotten from percieving immediately the damage to other human beings the worse everything seems to have gotten. And now much of our weaponry, the kinds used by governments to wage wars, also causes environmental damage.
