I move very fluidly during the course of my day. But when I first get out of bed I’m really stiff…especially my ankles!!
It recently occurred to me that maybe I have a touch of arthritis in my ankles as well as the bit I feel in my knees and one hip!
I lie in bed and stretch before so get up. It’s not like I go through a series of stretching exercises, I don’t mean that. It’s more like my body just takes over and my arms and legs extend and stretch as far as possible, and hold that position for a few beats (it’s a good thin Ron’s already up or I might knock him out of bed!) and I also arch my back in a stretch and hold that for a bit too.
Then I get up and walk stuff legged to the bathroom, and while I’m peeing I work my ankles flexing and rotating. By the time I put on my PJs and head to the kitchen for coffee, I’m moving fluidly again
It’s NOT some kind of planned stretching, like I’ve said. It’s only recently I’ve even realized that it’s what I do when I wake up (it’s pre-coffee so I’m barely coherent!) and I do it every morning!
What about you? Stiff when you first get out of bed? Stretches? Achy?
