Agree with your assessment of Penguin, @ChiroDoc, except for "Cristin Miloti as the psycho Sofia was badly miscast and poorly written. Her character was not believable from start to finish."

I thought she was perfectly wonderful. The kid I found to be an annoyance.

I've been watching Nailed It on Netflix. Not enjoying it that much. Laughing about people's baking efforts isn't super funny to me. I know I couldn't do better with that time frame and no background instructions.

I've also been watching The Great British Baking Show on Netflix. I'm starting to run out of seasons, so I'm cutting back.

I'm trying the Junior version of The Great British Baking Show. Those kids are amazing. But it's a little sad to see them get eliminated.
 

I watched the premier of a new show called Earth Abides. The show starts out with a geologist out in the mountains and is bit by a rattler. After he recovers he goes back to his town (Berkley) only to find that there was a world wide pandemic and everyone in his vicinity is dead. It is a weekly show so I was only able to watch the first episode . I enjoyed it. No gore, no zombies, no vampires or anything like that. Just a man trying to adjust to what has happened.

I did read more about the show and it is based on a book written in 1949. Earth Abides is a mini series. No other seasons are planned. It will mainly focus on how the man lives out his life as he discovers other survivors and how they try to rebuild some sort of society.

Earth Abides is on MGM+. Prime offered a 3 month subscription for only 99 cents to MGM+ and I fell for the offer which is why I decided to give this show a chance.
 
Only Murders in the Building. Finished season 2.

We have a reduced rate for 3 months on some special packages. One is Disney+. After hearing so much about It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I didn’t resonate with me. It’s probably one of these love it or hate it shows. I won’t be going back 16 seasons to check it out.

Jim Gaffigan’s latest stand up show, Skinny. Lots of laughs in that one.

I've been bingeing a lot of cooking shows recently. I bought the Black Friday special for Max, hoping to watch my cooking shows on that, but a bunch of shows that I like on Discovery+ didn't make it over to Max, so I bought a subscription to Discovery+ as well.

I've been watching Holiday Baking Championship. I'm on season 5 of 11.

I'm also watching Duff Takes the Cake. I'm almost done with season 1 of 2.

I've been playing Star Trek in the background on Paramount+ live Star Trek channel. It's a continuous play of Star Trek shows. I've also watched a bit of Charmed on Peacock+ live channel.

I watched Skinny last night and was hysterical all thru the bits about his teenage kids.
Saw all of Murders a few weeks ago.

IMO the first two seasons were pretty enjoyable. But starting in the third season the characters started to wear thin. Martin Short's over the top histrionics got to be annoying. I'm a big Steve Martin fan, but he often doesn't seem to get lines that he can shine with. And Selena Gomez can't act. She's wooden and lifeless. I don't understand why she was hired.

The only saving grace for me starting in the third season was the cute romance between Short and Meryl Streep (art imitates life?:)). And to my taste that was the single saving grace of season four.
 
Probably mention earlier by others, but I just finished "The Man on the Inside" on Netflix, with Ted Danson. It was fun, but not as good as his prior series, "The Good Place", which I loved.

I was highly anticipating this series because I'm a big Billy Bob Thornton fan, and also because the setting and story sounded very appealing.

But after 5 episodes it's not as impressive as I'd hoped. Thornton IMO is the sole reason to watch this series. He's perfectly suited to his part, and he usually hits it out of the park in his scenes. His son Cooper is an appealing character, as is the young widow, Ariana, who Cooper looks after.

I simply can't understand the emphasis put on BBT's idiot narcissist ex wife, and their total air head daughter. Perhaps some find them humorous, but to me they're both a detraction from the show, especially the ex wife.

The series is half way completed, so nothing much may change. And if it gets good reviews, like other Taylor Sheridan shows, there will probably be a second season.

Agreed, the show would be better without the ex wife. She's just annoying and a waste of good screen time.
