Are you streaming ( or binge watching ) any series on Netflix, or any other service? Tell us about it.

@Jules - Thanks for the Spoiler info.

Been re-watching as many history purchased productions as I can, such as The West, The Civil War, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Mark Twain, Lewis And Clark (just finished), Prohibition, Baseball, The War,,,etc. Just refreshing my memory. All very well done. Looking at buying The Vietnam War.

I haven't binged watched a series in awhile. I found one tonight that looks pretty good. Starring Jonny Hamm and the name of it is Your Friends and Neighbors.

So far he is a kind of bitter but also very hurt from the events leading to his divorce. I'm on the first episode.

I'll update again.

I thought the series was very watchable. I'll tell ya, that John Hamm seems to be in every series these days...;) It's a cute premise, although hard to believe; but it is a dark comedy. I think they could've done with one less episode. I see they've renewed it for a second season.

I've only watched about 4 episodes so far. I have to remember to keep watching it 😁

Last of the Summer Wine - a quintessentially Yorkshire village life comedy show from the perspective of 3/4 crazy males - all retired for some reason I guess and who just wander around the village and surrounding countryside - supping their beer etc etc having school boy fun and sometimes harassing the ladies!! - It helps if you love British village life and the way things used to be - came out in the 70's I believe

I only have one or two to go, ugh, I know, it has no brightness to it [White Lotus]. Not even the Bhuddism is enlightening. Everything so dark. Hateful, almost. I'll look at what is next on my watch list.
I'm on episode 4. It is unique, and I always give points for that. While it is engaging, I don't care about any of the characters, not that I could stop watching. I may have had enough by season 3. The main characters all need a good spanking, so I can see why some don't want to watch it. But its audience reception seems to be positive. Right now, I could use some really inspiring character to show up, just to add some balance to the script.

The Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Saga (2024)

I enjoy a well done documentary about a fascinating subject more than most theatrical movies. This documentary miniseries (3 parts) fits the bill in spades. It's a 5 star example of the phrase "stranger than fiction". The story is one of the wildest I've ever heard.

The wild drama takes place over a several years period, and its subjects range from Elvis impersonators, organ harvesting, funeral homes, corrupt elected officials, and the attempted ricin poisoning of a judge, Miss. Senator Roger Wicker, and then president Barack Obama.

Directors and brothers Chapman and Maclain Way construct a well put together accounting of some genuinely strange but true characters who are woven together in a sensational story. I was particularly interested in this saga because it took place in Tupelo (home of Elvis) in my home state.

Available on Netflix. Doc's rating: 10/10

Actually "Severence" is a stand alone TV series that has run for 2 seasons, and there will be a 3rd. It's available on Apple+ TV, Amazon, and through some other methods.

Both seasons have fabulous opening credit sequences.
Good to know! I'm don't with Your Friends and Neighbors. I thought it was ok. It held my interest while some series don't for long.

i started 7 movies/series today. none of them interested me. i deleted them from my history so they wouldn't recommend anything related. "because you watched this, we think you will like this...." NOPE

Those "think you will like" teasers are just trying to keep you on the site. Whatever algorithm is used to choose them doesn't go very deep into an analysis of why you watched part of a movie to begin with. Having noticed their inaccuracy, I've also noticed that on occasion, maybe 5% of the time, there is included in the list something I've seen and liked. But like you, I usually disregard the whole lot.

I listened to an expert's criticism of Netflix one time. Getting you to select a movie and watch only 2 minutes counts as a win for them. They consider the movie a success. That's why most of the movies Netflix makes on it's own are so unwatchable. No thought goes into creativity. What they learn from watching you is what effect the title had, and to some extent the premise.

Tried to watch 'Dept. Q' on Netflix, but I found it boring after 15 minutes or so. That's when I found 'Becoming Led Zeppelin' and that made me happy.

Giving up on 'The Gilded Age' I think. Season 1. I find it boring. Maybe I'll try it again, IDK. On Max

Maybe it's just me, it's hard to get me interested in stuff lately. I'm even finding my soap operas boring. Nothing seems creative, just same old same old.
